Moderatorthere are no trade spares with miele so can understand that. just making sure you not gone to any other online sites
what I quite often do is solder a new reed switch onto the board which makes life cheaper but not all engineers will do that

Moderatoryou are looking at a low value probably 100 ohms but the power chip will have gone as well
this resistor not only stops the inrush of current on switch on but is also a fusible resistor for safety reasons
will have a look around in the morning see if i have a board lying around

think it should be this one
you can find out from here
https://www.hotpoint.co.uk/spare-parts
put commercail code in. it gives you part no of old part but for some reason there is an error on site that stops subs showing up
if you put part no of old part vin whitegoods website you get link above
you can ask shop to check before purchase

Moderatorit seldom is the bit that spins that causes the problem
i used to remove the board and swop the reed switch that normally fixed the problem. By blowing fast you were activating the reed very fast and it may have improved the contacts but it wont last

Moderatoryou either have to start disconnecting elements or measure the earth resistance with a meter
from what your saying try disconnecting both wires to the top element. dont forget to note where the wires go. insulate the wires to make sure things cant touch. then turn on the lower element and see if it trips
if no it probably is just the top one
the only way of being certain is wait till it trips then disconnect. turn on again and see if it trips. or measure earth resistance with wires disconnected
