my next check would be the inverter. they have their own power supply to supply 5volts or so to the board for the logic circuits. if this blows then motor wont work
beware Inverter boards contain capacitors the can be charged up to 320v even when off at the plug

well its not a sealed tub so things get cheaper but its a bigger job

    https://shop.aeg.co.uk/search?text=914525313

all you will need is 2 bearings and a seal. provided you have caught it early enough and the drum spider is ok. if not it looks like its no longer available

the seal is about £25 from AEG part no 1249661016

the bearings will not be special and once you knock them out you can source them locally from a bearing supplier

so if all goes ok you might get it done for around £50 in parts

first thing to do is remove the drum and try and strip it to get the drum spider out and check the brass ring where the seal fits is not damaged or where the bearings fit on the spider is ok

can be a challenge to get the spider out of the drum without damage

also if its a plastic drum pulley a normal socket can be used to remove it but the bolt used in the metal ones can be fum and needs an allen key socket I think

    try 2 things first

1 check the child lock is off, if it has one

2 remove and replace all small electrical plugs on both the panel and inverter

no real massive skills just good mechanical know how and the ability to methodical and remember what came off where and when so you can put it back together the same way

let me have the complete PNC number off the label inside the door

lets see if parts are available and price then you can make a decision

assume you had enough wet washing in it as a lot of dryers wont start drying till dampness is detected

always go to Neff website to check part numbers

    programmed board part no 11047497

but I would check other things first. find the relay that controls the element and see if its stuck with contacts closed. you say it gets hot but don’t say if it does switch off the element or keeps getting hotter and hotter which could be a relay fault

the power board is at the rear right. the power cable plugs straight into it

the voltages on the front panel are mostly low voltage for the circuit boards

glue some match sticks into the exiting holes using wood glue, then let it dry and smooth off with sandpaper and re drill new holes

also I have no access to door fitting instructions for this machine but a lot of them you can vary where the screws go in some cases

see if you can figure out if the sound is from the top of the machine or the bottom

top sound will probably be dryer fan
    bottom sound probably pump

does it ever make it during a wash programme ? if no more likely fan motor

the only other thing i can think of is when its letting water in. you could run it till it makes the noise then turn the water tap off and see if it stops

well you could look here for an engineer

    https://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/search/find-an-appliance-engineer

but if it is a board problem unless the independant can programme boards its a Hotpoint only job

also i think it would be covered byextended part guarentees from hotpoint so hopefully any parts are free. just pay for labour

they sometimes let you take out an insurance plan and do the repair and then its covered ongoing.
