Moderatoryes there are certain components that are panasonic but the panel andd sofware within I doubt you will find an alternative part
there is one on ebay but does not have panel so may be a common failure
you could as QER if they have a fix

Moderatorwell Beko is still an ok brand in the lower price range and you get 2 years guarentee
you could look at neff and that includes Bosch and Siemans which are the same company also 2 year guarentee
Smeg are ok not sure on guarentee
failing all that you could look at electrolux which includes Zanussi Aeg and Tricity Bendix again all same machine in different cases not sure of guarentee

Moderatorwell looking up old fault codes it comes up as the owi detector
that a detector in the sump that is for temp and look at the water contamination
but common fault on old whirlpools is the wires snap at the bottom of the door where it hinges
when you investigate do it carefully as there may be multiple wires of the same colour

Moderatorthat was ok till you say disconnect and reconnect facia
the main power supply will generate low voltages to power facia board but it could be either
I tend to think display board as disconncting power or disconnecting display board do the same thing and it powers up.
if the main board had failed if you disconnected facia i would not expect it to come back on
but can never say for certain
you could try and find the voltages from the lower board and see if it is still there after failure
but at the end of the day I would quote for both boards and offer to order display first to see if it works. Make it clear they still pay for the whole job and both boards but you can reduce price if it does
as a very long shot disconnect motor and heater and see if anything changes
