Re: AEG B1180-1M cooling fan oven

    Hi Colin

    Thanks for your help.

If you put in your part number the webpage shows the same item as part number:8996619267611 & 8996619273569 oven cooling fan cotrol.
Will be having a look at the little plastic capsule later today if I can get it out of the kitchen fitting. They have built a wooden surround plus microwave directly on top.
    Tyre levers could be needed.

Re: AEG B1180-1M cooling fan oven

    Back Colin

All I could get from the elderly lady was: Type 91AHP01PA and she thinks the AEG oven is around 8 years old.
Would not take this as a 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} correct until I can drive around there and read all the numbers off the oven myself.

If there is a temp sensor to turn on the cooling fan then surely the same sensor would turn it off when cool?
Any help from somebody who has seen this problem.

    Thanks BobHope and Loopey

Yes that all makes sense once you have pointed out the problem of the top half staying warm and not cooling down.
Will be popping in on Monday to take a close look at the compressor and have just found out it had been rented out to a family that have kicked in the door, smashed a window etc.
Properly find the back has been damaged and the gas has been slowly leaking out before the new tenant comes in.

The new website is a great improvement; take my hat off to the IT staff.

    Thanks Bob

Still scratching my head over this one as the freezer compartment at the bottom is well and truly frozen? So the compressor must be running but why is the fridge compartment at the top reading plus 16 degrees centigrade.
Is the thermostat tube mounted into the freezer section with the actual stat in the top?

Hope to pop in when the owners are at home later today to have a closure look at the fridge unit.

    Thanks robbra

The basic model now sells at £644 plus VAT as the euro has crashed against the pound. The cargo support and folding platform cost an extra £98 to the final cost.
My Osteopath costs a hell of a lot less.
Thats why I was looking for a second hand unit if at all possible.
The misses would go through the roof if I forked that out for a sack barrow.
Pity I don’t live in the city and pay for a strong pair of hands floating around. Thanks again for your help.

Spot on Martin the problem did come from the drain pump.
Checked for the error codes and nothing came back so tipped up the washing machine and took off the Askoll type 290793 drain pump.
The impeller was rather stiff and the old grey grunge was packed behind the rotor to the faceplate. All cleaned and the motor run for a few minutes which seemed to loosen the bearings as the customer did not want to buy a new one. Six full cycles and pump still running ok.Customer warned that a new pump could be the order of the day.

What does surprise me is if the motor windings are activated by the mains then why does everything appear dead and nothing else runs on the washing machine. Current would be running through the windings so how does it decide to kill everything until the pump is actually running at full speed?

Will have another go at checking the pump this afternoon Martin.
Did rotate it to check for jammed bearings yesterday.
That might have given a kick to get it going for a short time.

A far better way of handling elderly folk with forgetful memories gandh1.
I was never very good at diplomacy but will use that in future when trying to tell customers that the unit is not just over a year old and still might be under warranty.

    Kind regards

Very old lady who has to have a live in helper from NZ to look after her.
She said it was only 4-5 yeqars old after I told her I thought it was around the ten year mark.
Will now get back to the helper and give a quote.Very strong accent.

    Kind regards

    Thanks again eastlmark

Yes did find out that there is a cooling fan when I was looking for spares at around £150 which was why I had asked.
Thanks again for the UK60MX1 advice if I happen to come across one.

    Re: SMEG UK60MFX cooker

    Thanks eastlmark

That’s really helped me out as the owner of the cooker was getting desperate with Christmas coming up and parts being delayed by the snow.
Will change it with a 140* thermal cut out and not waist time hunting for a cooling fan.
Thermostat was checked out ok with a thermocouple put inside the fan oven.

As usual, a great website with lots of help.

Have not stripped down a UK60MFX cooker before, I take it there is no cooling fan at the top of the cooker underneath the gas hob?

Will dig a bit further to see if anybody knows what the Bosch temp cutout value is that has been fitted on the back. Amazing that Bosch do not show the temp stamped on the thermal switch.

140 degrees sounds rather low as it is directly screwed to the backplate of the cooker and there is only convection to keep it cool?

Is there a pump in the plastic base of a TDC30P tumble dryer?
Have not taken off the drum yet to dig deeper into the problem George. Will not know until Monday’s visit.
