    leasa,

be aware you can end up paying needlessly more on parts than gettign a decent local engineer to fault find for you. and the best bit is you/hubby doesnt end up with lacerated hands.

as suggested earlier, fill out the “find a local engineer” or post your first part of your post code, like RG1 etc, and one of us may know an enigeer local to you that we would trust to fix our own machines.

as the possible failure is unspecific your best option is to go with an engineer who will fix it for a fixed price, regardless of call outs. might be more expensive in comparison to a 30 quid a visit company, but if it takes more than 2 visits, then you arent racking up charges. the other thing is talk to people! put a facebook status out there, “washing machine broke, anyone know a local engineer whos trustworthy” word of mouth recommendations are the best kind, and if you do resort to the yellow pages, dont go with the large ad flashy ad companys, which is where quality and trustworthyness starts to dissipate. and stay away from “premier electrics” 🙂

    Re: BEKO WME 8227

had a nosey last week on one in the shop. its welded

as jim says, on the whole parts are cheap, service info is reasonabley good to get from beko, or here but be aware:

new tub is £130+vat 😯 thats almost as much as the machines are new
    @ trade

but they ARE cheap, and therefore if your honest with customers, and you say why they are cheap, most will shell out a bit more on a bosch etc. fact is, they cover a part of the market where if we didnt have them, the customers that wont convert to something better will only go and get it from argos or currys instead, and we lose a sale.

ho hum you can lead a horse to water…

Re: Bosch Classix 1200 Motor Problem

if your fitting it yourself £200 is a better spent on a motor than some tat, as a new equivalent spec bosch wae24366 is circa £380-420 for example.

    Re: Oven not heating up

its a smeg, their elements tend to be one of the more reliable parts in them

seriously tho, get it checked out first, ill disagree with specialist about most engineers not fitting parts sourced elsewhere, as everyone is trying to grab business wherever possible, we seem to be getting it more and more, and so fair game to them. ukwhitegoods shop is a good place to get the parts, and you can always ask the engineer that you want to source them yourself based on their say so.

when we fit outsourced spares, in half the cases we find the parts arent what is wrong. we have had customers making expensive mistakes ordering thermostats, ceramic plates etc, when in some cases it needs something that costs a few quid.

free call outs are very rare now, as too many customers are more than happy to get a diagnosis, then shaft the engineer by ordering the bits online and fitting them themselves…

most engineers / companys that do fit outsourced parts will charge a fixed fee, but that varies company to company, ours for example is £48.00 + vat, and includes making sure that part is required (we dont charge anything more if something else is needed instead, except for what the parts are) but a lot of other places will have a fixed fee that might be £25-35+vat but you need to make sure that that isnt just for fitting it and going, regardless of whether its the actual fault. just remember the cheaper engineers will tend to be people with more limited access to spares, who then go and get the spares from internet and you then pay on top of that., so in the end you end up paying either way…

    hope that helps?

    Re: Indesit is70c not reversing

id be surprised if its coincidental, starting to get a lot of customers complaining after doing belts on merloni dryers – vented and cond. that the timer ticks round too quickly/slowly and try to claim it wasnt like that before. and they would happily put up with it if they dont have to pay for the labour… so be aware of scammers

i know people whod be back round with 10 of their friends and a couple of vans. these are people who give pikeys a bad name, the gypsys round here are pretty decent folk, ok they haggle the price down a bit for cash – we knock off 4{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} as its not thru the card machine, and then end up tipping you for the job*

I thought it was a joke when i first heard about the darwins, as a concept i thought it was a very funny idea, but the fact it was actually taken from a concept to a real awards, and that is popular, just highlights how depraved society is that it has to get its kicks from others deaths, in such a vulgar way. In essence its no different to “happy slapping” – theres a fine line between that and laughing at someones misfortune, but the darwins cross it

hope you got paid and/or have the old machine to play with 🙂

customers are far too willing to replace if it cant be fixed in what we deem to be unfeasibly short times. still waiting for a 14 y/o miele start switch to come in, cust couldnt wait estimated 1-2wks for part to arrive so bought an lg too, but at least they want to keep the meile and complete the repair, as they will continue to use it for the rugby kit… :rolls:
