    Re: Tribal UK bust

i could feel sorry but ive lost too much trade to the likes of bennetts, tribal and buyers & sellers to be sympathetic. i would care more if their priorities werent simply shifting boxes for the tiniest possible margin aBOVE all else.

it would be poetic justice if the largest discounters found themselves washed ashore, when their sole intention over the last 2-3 years was to price rivals out of business. unfornately i cant see it happening to the likes of tesco, argos, dyas, best buy and currys.

    Re: bennetts electrical

heard the rumour at portways trade show, then checked it out last weekend and saw they were still trading. uh oh. thing with bennets every time i popped in to nose around, they appeared to be overstaffed, and very “on top of” you, i got jumped 4 times in the space of 5 minutes wandering around browsing, last time was almost immediately after the 3rd time of saying “just browsing thanks” and they were definitely within earshot of each other…

edit: ouch only 1.2{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of their annual turnover was profit… 😯

    Re: bosch washer/drier

hasnt this already been answered by someone – cold fill solenoid???

its the dark side because some customers seem to think all we are out to do is rip them off. had one this week wanting to know why her washing machine wouldnt work, said need to know what it is and whats it doing that doesnt seem right, well your supposed to be the washing machine engineers, you should tell me – theyre all the same anyway, bit taken aback i replied well if you cant provide even that basic information its a bit difficult to answer, i would suggest we go and have a look at it for you “for free i hope” uh, no theres a call out fee but that includes the labour, “oh well im not doing that, ive been ripped off before paying someone to come out who then said it needed this, and then that and the bill came to xyz amount and the machine only lasted another 18 months” so i assured her the call out fee was capped and would be no more, and she could have it taken off a new machine of ours if it wasnt worth fixing, so her reply was “well now i know all you will do is rubbish it the minute you see it and run off with my cash, im really sorry but ive been caught out before” so i shrugged and said fine, awkward silence so i said i take it you wont be requiring a booking because you will be able to find someone who will work for free then…

    🙂

as discussed in there, its really only a suitable fix for short term repairs, or customers on the tightest budgets. the recommended repair is the proper pump, feedback ive been given is that teh proper pump is more powerful and cleans better. also remember to remind customer that the servis hose fix is a short term repair and that should the pump fail, it wouldnt be covered under a recall. basically if they can afford the new proper circ motor, fit it, as its the most economical repair in the long term

    Re: baumatic bwd12-1

chris, be aware just cos its a fagor built machine, the electronics might not be the same. using source manufacturers parts are fine if its a static component – door handles, tubs, knobs etc but unless you can cross reference part descriptions adequately its not worth the risk. it is unlikely as baumatic are a brand rather than a manufacturer, but fagor may have been requested to modify parts of wash cycles for faster length, lower fill levels etc which will obviously stuff up expected readings for p/switches etc so even tho the board will be the same to look at, the software could be different…

    Re: H2O & F01

had wmf720 flashing up h20 over christmas after replacing a chattering interlock, thing is, the waste had been siliconed into a standpipe which went straight outside, and we put it down to waste freezing up as it hasnt happened since it warmed up,

so where it would normally just flood the room in that instance, it couldnt displace the air in the stand pipe – bit liek when you have the blue caps in the undersink waste spikes, so me wonders if you have any blockages in plumbing?

Re: crosslee whitenight may have a problem 🙁

itll be the “britains most reliable tumble drier” sticker 😆

on a serious note, id get crosslee to come down and independantly inspect it.

but my initial suspicion would be what looks to be a lack of a filter and fluff build up in the element that caught and embers transferring to clothes inside???

your first course of action should be to get the customer a loan machine asap whilest the cause is investigated. as long as there is a room left that its got to go back in.

this means the customer is not on your back, and you can also use this as an exampe of your excellent customer care should solicitors get involved. the other thing to remember is that if they were in the house, they would have smelt burning obviously, and therefore should have been able to stop the machine before it got that bad. (pull the plug/ isolatation switch/fusebox, then bucket of water…???)

either way i imagine they will be claiming on the house insurance, who will then claim off of crossless insurance *assuming its a manufacturing fault* as a retailer is responsable for the goods they sell, they may well try to claim compensation but i think they have to prove that what you sold them was dangerous which requires independant report rather than you having to prove the machine wasnt at fault.
