dont get carried away cja at 8 yrs old, the motor seal will prolly need replacing as well as the impeller if heavily used with rinseaid, but still id rather spend £150 on a dwf32 than £200 on a cruddy chinese made thing…. id even spend £150 on it even tho argos have a beko for £250…

really unlikely, the only reason the element could arc to the tray was if the element had split thru the insulation and outer casing, even so, replacing the element should fix it, itd be unlikely to short out if the new elements casing was touching the tray, until the insulation failed again.

the tray is probably only warped due to heat, on this machine, besides i thought the lower element is below the main cavity anyway????

    anyway you know best, clearly.

mark your getting into expensive territory, its probably just the element thats gone, and it shouldnt set you back more than 50 quid.

im worried how you knew the top elements heated when the bottoms didnt after you had already stripped it.

    do not live test!!! :zap:

Re: Hotpoint Ultima CTD85 TIMER PROBLEM

just check the the drier element, had this on a ctd80 (white version) as it stuck on 20 mins and tripped few mins afterwards. replaced pump, but still stuck on 20, *no trips* so assumed to be pcbs so referred to hp, hp came out and replaced element & stats. just seems to have come out of normal insulation parameters i guess…

be aware if the appliance is failing and its not an external leakage, then it will happen again within 1-6 weeks of draining, depending on speed of leakage. you can usually assume your safe after 8 weeks 🙂
