    Re: zann td tc7114w thermostat

ive noticed after about 5-6 years the cup type fans can wear the D-shape hole into a round hole and because they then are only held onto the motor spindle loosely by the nut, they slip round and dont work as efficiently or powerfully as they should

I assume this could mean it wont circulate the air thru the drum as quickly as machine expects it to, and therefore may cause the internal drum temp to overheat.

or similarly (personally cant say ive ever had a cap’ go on a lux-owned dryer unless its a crosslee based one) as its a solid door dryer its not as convenient to notice the drum turn, so entirely feasible the belt could easily have gone, or the support roller is squared off and jamming. but in theory this should still allow the impellers to circulate the air unless they are staying still and the spindle is turning merrily around…

also, isnt it the digital ones that zanussi say your not supposed to blow into otherwise you can damage/corrupt the electronics on them.

    Re: Zanussi FX1465 overfilling.

check your heater cabling from board to element, had a zwf1211 (despecced version of the zwf1221 which replaced the fx range) manage to pull one of the tags off the element cos the wiring was too tightly wrapped around down there. that did the same fault of constant filling on first fill stage.

i instantly assumed pcb as there was no error code, but better nature made me check the back and couldnt believe it when i saw it just dangling there.

by same token obv check the element for continuity and operating resistance too, because if that has dropped/failed i would assume it would reproduce the same symptoms as just being disconnected, and as it didnt throw up an error code for me, its quite possible if the element had gone down then that wont show up in diagnostics either…

    Re: zan fle1416 motor issues

are you implying you have a 1600rpm motor mikey??? 😀

(at £210 i dont blame him – i wouldnt even pay £125 net for a new motor if it was my own machine, as its already seen its best years – 6+ years old)

just customers who are tight really, dont wanna buy a new one dont wanna pay the parts they need for it, all about a massive cake and eating all of it…

i only had the multimeter with me at the time as job was tacked on to the delivery schedule as it was urgent, so not insulation tested it yet.

and he wants me to keep an eye out for a s/h motor 🙁

and on the f/s models they often have a “spare” lug which looks like it should have a 2nd screw in too, where theyve penny pinched and only put the one in…

Re: would a tri ben aw1402 drum transfer to a zwf12070?

hmm just had a play around

tubs seem to be spin speed -variable.

    i.e
    aw1401/1402 = zwf14070

    aw1201/1202 = zwf12070

    aw1001/1002 = zwf10070

would this be down to motor mountings or bearings? I cant think or any other variable that would be spinspeed specific :s

Re: You want to charge me HOW MUCH!

customer brought in a miele dw hose with a split on the 90* bend.

very pleasant at first, but should have known there would be trouble when she claimed dw was only 6 years old, and that really shouldnt happen to a miele, and expected 20 years free of trouble. i politely shrugged, and explained they would have a 20 year warranty if they knew their machines would achieve that

Anyway told her id have to get in contact with miele for a part no which would be more than a few mins so she said she would pop back after picking the kids up as she was doing hte school run.

anyway promptly got hold of miele and was quoted £56 + p&p for the waste hose. out of interest i asked mile how old the machine was and they reckoned it would have been about 13 years old.

when she returned, i quoted her the £56 (£37 from connect i think) and if i ordered it before 3 it would be in next day… and without a chance to finish the sentence:

£56? HOW MUCH? Ill have to call my husband! cue shuffle outside and speakerphone call to hubby whose attempting the repair… at that moment i knew there’d be some kind of issue. “The shop is saying they dont have one in stock, and it sounds awfully expensive at £56” and i could hear him on the other end exclaim “HOW MUCH! there f&*)!”ing ripping you off, they should only be about £15 quid” anyway shes a bit pink in the cheeks cos i think she realised id heard the exchange so i asked if she wanted to order it or whether she wanted me to find an alternative similar guage bore waste that might fit. about 15 minutes later i came up with a hotpoint one and said its worth a shot as i can do that for 15 quid. if it doesnt marry up can always order the miele one. for some reason i didnt take a deposit this time, she agreed to go ahead, pricessed the order 10 mins later, bang on 3.

get a phone call about 3:15, “I need to cancel that hose” I was like well i cant do that ive put it through, “oh i thought you would put it through at 3 tomorrow – anyway I dont need it now as ive found one just down the road” so im like can i be cheeky and ask wherebouts, and she confirms my suspicion its our neighbouring independant rivals. Ive managed to get the hose for £1.something, its amazing, must have been old stock” and im left thinking what the hell have they sold you. So i say thankyou for making me incurr a 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} restocking charge with my supplier, hope it works for you” and she was so blase, her response was im sure youll be able to sell it to someone else who needs one… >GRRR<

anyway, long story short, she rung up yday and asked if wed returned the hose back yet, because the one she was given wouldnt fit in any shape or form. Would have said im afraid so, If it wasnt purely a case of cutting off my nose to spite my face. Thing was i needed shot of it.

but what gets me was she left teh shop with the sole intention of trying to get it elsewhere immediately that afternoon, even though shes placed an order with us knowing we wouldnt be able to supply till next day.

so word of warning for all those who dont take deposits – 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} non refundable deposit on all special orders!!!

    learnt my lesson 🙂

    Re: Santander

we are right next door to santander. 8 months ago people we issued with sanatander debits cards and wouldnt be accepted in their own hole in the wall. yet they worked fine in teh hole in the wall on the otherside where barclays were.

also regulalry get “arrrgh” stories from custoemrs letting off steam as we are their next point of contact after leaving santander. when they get it right i guess theyre fine but they seem to be too many annoying nuances which worry us enough not to move to them.

were with lloyds who are expensive, but never had a problem with the account in 5 years, and they havent even blinked at a supplier cock up that meant we needed to pay 7K of bills in one go maxing out the overdraft in the process.

from what i could glean from his phonepic the sn was the 51100122 number

cos the 375000042 was in the same place as the IND codes normally were, and the 37508 is just the std creda model no. i guess

will supply both stats tho, with the inferance its teh 1701557 and tell him to bring the kit that doesnt match up back.

    cheers monsieurs!

had a batch of hp wdXXX recently with drying faults due to the recent weather.

just fed up spending ages on the machines cleaning the numerous levels of fluff etc out of the box, put it all back togther and then only to find out the board or other components are failing thru poor resistance. just pretty much wanna check every component first to make sure they are all within working tolerances in one visit. any that arent or are borderline can get ordered with the obviously faulty componentand if needed i can get them all sorted at the same time too.
