that wasnt quite what i meant but can understand what you mean. my point was more the fact they fill 20 sq footage of space in the warehouse office foyer/camera studio as a showroom and get all the benefits of the full range of bosch partnerships? BAH. nothing against a proper showroom being on an ind estate, but im not convinced that should allow the greatest amount of discount either. the alternative is for bosch to monitor internet sales and only allow pp status to those retailers whose net sales make up less than 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of purchases?

DrDill wrote:Very true, and my advice really would be to tell your customer to buy it from JL, and then you charge him a fitting fee. You have no responsibility then as you are not the retailer.

This is the crux, my last words to him were, “that still sounds like a cost price or loss leader” and his response was i dont want to buy it from them, i want to buy it from you in case theres any problems, i know youll be able to sort it out. But your price needs to come down, because your price is £130 more than theirs”

Im stuck – hes not bothered about seeing hte trade prices we get, so I just dont know what to do. managed to shave a smidge off the price with pjh to 575, but its next to nothing.

Acknowledge the after sales basic rights issues mentioned above with reselling, its what was concerning me. Im gonna have to hope pjh can make a call to their rep for a post-del rebate or something its the only thing i can think of!

DrDill wrote:AO own expert logistics, drl bought them and the warehouse, then they bought bosch and neff stock so they could meet the partner criteria, thats why their pricing is so good on them. , god knows who would buy them, but John Lewis isnt a bad shout?

not quite, if i remember rightly, one of the directors of DRL owns majority of EL. DRL owns AO and a has a stake in EL.

Thats why i said what would happen if JL bought AO? it would be a huge loss of business to EL unless it included them too. But by doing so DRL lose their warehouse. Thats why I cant see what the point of selling would be? Then theres the ownership of the warehouse, which is not owned by AO, but by EL holdings. There are so many fingers in the DRL pie any sale would be messy and I cant see it could be in anyone tied in with DRL’s best interests to flog it?

Surely if they are scared of making a loss, anytime soon the easy option is to abandon their persistant minimargin or lossmaking prices they have been so keen to ram in all our faces.

As for partner scheme, GUFFAW. Bosch really need to do something because a pokey room in the warehouse on an inductrial estate is not a showroom…. Showroom status should only be qualified by a postcode on a street position in a known RETAIL location.

Re: Integrated double oven, induction hob, fridge freezer ad

Depends on budget, but if “best value” is what your looking for,

Integrated 50/50 fridge freezer & 60cm Under counter freezer
    Gorenje – with their 5yr guarantee – F/F c. £400 delivered, and Frzr c. £325 del

    Double oven / Induction Hob
Bosch/Neff or Gorenje again, no idea about price as specs vary wildly

    Integrated dishwasher
Have a look at an Amica ZIV615. About £320ish delivered

Have not had any issues with neffs or bosch’s with the polynox plastic bases. There were initial concerns about hygeiene, knives falling and stabing them etc, but overall so far there hasnt been a major problem we have come across. Id actually pick one of those over a s/s interior smeg, purely because the wash quality is accepted to be better overall.

DrDill wrote:They don’t actually make any money yet.

I figured that must have been the case given the trading figures it yoyos about but the only real value they seem to have is from their assets liek the warehouse landm, stock and the EL fleet.

DrDill wrote:The group of people that own AO are looking to sell the company next year

Really? who is likely to buy it tho? Especially if its only breaking even? and then what happens about expert logistics if say someone like JohnLewis get it?

Spent a while looking at AO’s company details, seems odd that appliances online and AO are both listed as separate companies, and still trading. Mewonders if theres more to the name change than just a fresh logo…

does this have the long thin green hose that goes from the RHS up and over the body ? if so, check the T-junction where it joins in the rest of the water circuit, for grease build up.

Wrote one of those off after spending lots on pcb repairs and heaters and ntcs only to find that out when stripping all the good parts down and off of it. kicked myself hard…
