pump gets bunged up pretty badly fairly often. carbon hungry motors but pcbs also fragile. overly-sensitive out of balance system too…
first empty of clothes and fill with a rinse programme,
select drain.
if it drains within time parameters ok, clear programme
if it doesnt drain quickly enough, an error code will flash one of the leds, and should stop the pump so it doesnt burn out. in which case somewhere either in the filter or between the pump and bottom of the drum theres likely to be a blockage. the pump may even appear ok, and sound alright, but the impeller may be damaged. also if the pump has burned out it wont run a spin cycle.
select spin and test spin programme. if works fine, without a load, theres a chance either the pcb has a failed component, or the machines out of balance has kicked in, although to have this happen 95{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time on various sized loads would be quite abnormal.if doesnt spin or cant get past “slow” itll probs be carbons. so check these – remember to unplug before going under the machine, also remember beko-branded brushes are often supplied singularly so make sure if you do need them, you order a pair…

squadman wrote:If they get stressy about it ask them how mnay times its worked befor going wrong. Any answer other than right away will invalidate an automatic exchange. Largely cos the goods were working and now arent, as opposed to not working from the off. If they then start quoting sales of goods acts, the best response is to offer to call the manufacturer immediately, as they are the only ones who can authorise an immediate uplift of an appliance which hasnt failed on install!
The original question was can the customer request a replacement appliance as the fault developed within the first 28 days ?
First and foremost it has nothing to do with the manufacturer at this point, the contract of sale is between the retailer and consumer. The consumer is entitled to either a repair, replacement or full refund during the first 28 days and if you have managed to circumvent this with your customers then well done ! However if they decided to have none of it and marched you of to the county court that would be a very different matter.
Exactly as you said, the contract of sale… i think youll find the 28 days is not actually a statutory right – a “reasonable period” of time is, and that reasonable period of time can be defined by the retailer prior to the purchase – the 28 days is merely an agreed length of time that most of the multiple outlet retailers adhere to as a rule. A gentlemans agreement if you must – they cant afford to offer anything much longer, and because the rest can just about afford 28 days, its not in their interests to offer less than their competitors. All retailers should display their contract of sale guidelines at the point of transaction that is obvious and easily readable by the customer. i.e not in such small print its illegable or upside down etc. if this is not done, then yes prosecutors can claim the retailer was in breech of the contract of sale, and be liable to accept the customers beleif that they operated with a 28 day r/t/b returns/exchange system, as that is the average duration of the policy, as no other policy was clearly stated.
I make sure my contract of sale is clearly stated on the receipt, and because we fit most of the machines we sell never usually have a problem. As an extra safeguard, we also ensure the customer signs that the appliance arrived in the house in an acceptable condition, and agreed to the c/o/s and also signed that the product was demonstrated after fitting in a working condition.
dont get me wrong i go out of my way to help the custoemrs who do have the problems, but i never uplift without authorisation, ever since i had to babysit a £200 indesit fridge freezer for over a year…

Penguin45.
that was kinda my point. the quick-fit charge-lots brigade will always put a peatrap and spike under the sink instead of using a standpipe. even when the original plumbing already utilised a stand pipe… and inevitably those people are the same ones who fit the u bend directly infront of the inlet hose taps… or the taps hard up against the kitchen unit side…

cleaning! far too expensive to replace too readily!!!
easy to strip down and wash out, if gunked, check the water distriputer that fits into it – ive found an old fridge thermostat to be the perfect tool to tease clogged crap out of the top float of that

got one of these as our loan machine if waiting more than a few days for a special order to come in. the only downside is it weighs a ton. but its travelled more miles than a uk spec haier and still going strong 😈

don wrote:The Siemens SN26T252 is tne next stage on from the Neff and will come with a ful five year warranty.
In case the count doesnt spot it the siemens is a freestanding integrated style dishwasher. rather than a fully integrated model. it basically means you cant have a front unit panel fitted to it like the aeg that has been suggested to you by your developer. personally i like the siemens, but they no longer have their integrated models included in the 5yr p&l guarantee promotion, meaning they are only covered by a 2yr warranty. so if you were to go fully int, rahter than freestanding pick the neff or bosh equivalents, marginally cheaper but mechanically similar.
or buy an end of line siemens se65t390 ive sold 4 so far in the last 5 months and every customer has been over the moon with its performance. 3 of which were replacing ancient neff/bosch models… original srp is 700+ but your local independant (and if your near to surrey then that will be me) should be able to source one for about 25-30{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} less than that if its boxed 😉
thecount wrote:thanks very much. just a shame none of them go down to 39db?
and iirc the 39dB is only on the “night wash” cycle, its about 42 or 44dB on a standard wash programme… which is still 4x-8x times quieter than a hotpoint LFT 114!!

ParticipantRe: Baumatic BDW13.
remember, no recalls, unless it is proven to be a faulty part!
and dont forget to get the customers signature stating that they were happy with the repair and its been left in a fully operational condition!
For the sake of testing it for 15 mins in front of them it will save you a lot of hassle!!gandh1

yeh but what annoys me is that its clear to us, or anyone with half a brain cell, but the
sheeppeople who care lap it up and then come and complain to us when we cant fix it… 😡gotta wonder if theres a corellation between the people buying these and the people who voted in the last election???

ParticipantRe: Bush washing machines advertised in Argos
oddly enough… bit of google and the haus is also supplied as a bush… and lol @ http://www.washingmachinereviews.org.uk/category/haus/
what really grates is all the blatently non-unbiased reviews out there on the web with companies being paid to write positive reviews without stating anythng concrete. the gp read up on it think its amazing and buy it :S
i thought the haus was turkish at first but looking at it closer it could well be the clever chinese producing it to look european, cos thinking about it i cant see anything european made beign available for sale under £200 now, let alone £180…
was asked for a kenwood washing machine as well today – iirc its a comet or currys branded model, which is a vestelle product ?!

i think uve got away with it – its gotta be ok otherwise they wouldnt be able to have oriental cuisine, orient express, unle bens taste of the orient etc etc.
i think its the more crass terms like the shortened “chinese takeaway” and references to eyes that is frowned upon ❗
