Participantit isnt designed to offend, just state fact
everyones call out fee differs… most people dont do free call outs, some charge a diagnosis fee, which is deducted from the final repair bill
as for advice.. have you tried it again
?it could just be a damp element.. if it still does it, then take of the rear banjo shaped panel and dry it out with a hairdryer
if none of this works, its looking like a new element is required
expect to pay £85 – £100 if the elements goosed
but, like i say, it differs greatly
does that help?
oh and unplug it if your looking

Participantso you want someone to come and give you a price, and if you dont think its viable, they walk away with nothing?
in the free van, with free insurance and petrol and road tax, with the free phone in his pocket on a free contract
maybe he should just fix it for free to with those free parts that are in his free van, using his free tools
u see where were coming from?
helo_75
Participantpossibly, but id check the heater first
ALWAYS a good place to start with these babies
helo_75
Participantnah itll want a pump… deffo
helo_75
Participantmake sure youve got plenty plasters
heater cover off
unclip the rear bearing
rear panel off, fit belty over drum, refit rear paneluse some sort of tool to drag the belt over the motor shaft ( a socket with an extension on it is always good , and, yes, it is that tight) you can do this through the access panel on the bottom right hand side
good luck, and be careful!!
January 26, 2009 at 11:33 pm in reply to: Hotpoint CTD00 00 squeaks on every drum rotation!! #275335helo_75
Participantwell, first off, its a CTD00
secondly, its screwed, your looking at the wrong thing
the shaft is on the back of the drum.. to clarify, open the door, and look to the rear, youl see 3 screws, dead centre, with tx screws… thats where the drum shaft screws to the drum
the drum needs to come out to replace it
top off, rh side panel off (lookin from front )
then the pin comes off the shaft, and the drum will come out when you release the bar across the top
not a nice job, just take your time and be methodical about it
http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/Tumble+D … t+Kit.html
contains all the parts you could possibly need, including all felt seals, front supports, rear bearing and a drum locking pin
good luck

Participantno reset. other than to hold the start button for 5 seconds
sounds like a wash heater problem if u ask me
turn the temp dial to cold and see if it goes through?
plug out if your planning to test the heater

Participantok heres the deal
very commonly, the pcb blows on these
sometimes, the lock does it.. other time the motor brushes can cause this, because theyre both on the same plug
best bet is to visibly inspect the pcb, if it is blown, follow the wires back to the faulty component and test
experience would suggest that since it stopped during a wash, the brushes will indeed be chief suspect
hope this helps?
oh, and take the plug out
helo_75
Participantdrum jammed with weight, no airflow , overheat, stat pops….
helo_75
Participantmore likely thermostat failure
but id check the front lip of the drums running on its supports properlyhelo_75
Participantat least theyre leaving the comet engineers alone 😀
light the fuse
helo_75
Participantyup, could well justy be the capacitor
not sure of the rating though, you really need to take it off and read the value (usually around 7-8 uf)
is situated on or around the motor area
plug out if your checking
