It is not an over complicated machine, if you do have any questions regarding usage just ask. 8)

17039 was made for Currys, 17049 was made for the now defunct Rumbelows. Both of these machines have different control units from each other and are also different to your machine. Major differences are
the electronic control for out of balance loads ( your machine will not spin if the load is badly balanced ) the control of the heater is different, if the heater fails, your machine will continue to the end of the cycle and you will only notice a problem on heavily soiled clothes.

This machine, which is 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} Hotpoint must be around ten years old by now. The user manual is part number 530ELECTRA. However I think you may have some difficulty obtaining one due to its age.

I may be mistaken but I was under the impression that Fairy Active Bursts already contained rinse aid in the liquid side of the pouch, am I wrong? The reason I pose the question is in regard to this recent post by one of our most highly respected members.

We like the new Fairy Bursts – low froth and it cleans your crockery. You do need to keep the rinse aid topped up though.

Re: New Hotpoint Washing Machine in……

Perhaps they have fitted a batch of dodgy plugs and had to cut them off. Now before you all start laughing, this did actually happen at Hotpoint almost 30 years ago, just after moulded plugs came on the scene. Hotpoint were one of the first manufacturers to fit moulded plugs to all their appliances. A serious fault was discovered in the plugs which could have caused the plug to short across or set on fire, personally I never saw one that had done this. The upshot was that a national press release was issued and we had to go along and remove the moulded plugs and refit with company issue MK plugs. That in itself was not a problem, however in my area at the time was a major mail order outlet who insisted that we went along and cut the plugs of all the Morphy Richards irons, Hotpoint kettles etc. I spent a full three days, opening boxes and cutting plugs of thousands of small appliances, thank god they didn’t ask us to put plugs on them. The sides and backs of my fingers became red raw as a result of pushing down inside the boxes to draw the damned things out. 👿

Has it got an FHP motor, if so check that the tacho magnet has not come loose. you need to prise off the metal disc to see it. Easy to refit.

There is now a modified drum for CTD/VTD machines to prevent fouling on the back panel.

Neons 3+5 indicate blocked filters. Mesh plate, filter or microfilter, pressure sensor, pressure switch or faulty circulation pump.

Information is in the Known Error codes thread, lower down, page #3 😉

If you have a blocked condensor causing this fault then after you have cleared it, it is sometimes possible to dry the elements with a hairdryer without needing to replace them. If you do attempt this take care because the elements are quite delicate. Plug out as always please. 😉

Neon 4 flashing indicates door lock fault, it may not be closed properly. Although the error messages should be given by the neons down the side of the control panel.

It may just be trying to wind you up. 😥

Grit your teeth and phone Hotpoint. You will only 😥 have to pay their labour charge of just under £90.00 but if it does require the module etc you will not have to pay for them, also they are the only people that can re programme the eeprom in your machine.

Re: Brand new WD420 ran once and now flashing error lights

Neons 1 + 2 flashing are ‘supposed’ to indicate a communications error.

In reality it means that the unreliable INDESIT electronics in your Hotpoint machine are possibly at fault. It may just be a loose connection caused during delivery/installation but you only need to used the search facility and enter Hotpoint/Indesit/Ariston and you will have pages of bedtime reading that may give you a sleepless night. 😥
