Yes, its a Hotpoint with Indesit electronics in it. 😥

To be honest, if you have had a burning smell from the machine I would strongly advise that you do not try it again. Even if you phone Hotpoint/Indesit under the 5 year parts guarantee the most you will pay is just under £90.00. Not cheap but far better than risking a fire in the machine or worse.

    Re: HOTPOINT BF162

Lets be honest here, its not a Hotpoint, its an Indesit 😥 Often the error messages are no more than a guide. A solenoid valve can fail intermittantly, an internal break in the very fine wire in the coil can break down after a few seconds of use, but work again for a short while after it has cooled down again. A solenoid valve is not that expensive.

There is no ‘high water sensor’ there is an anti flood device which syphons water into the base, this triggers a float switch which energises the drain pump and flashes error code 1.
If you tilt the machine to either side or backwards and water runs out from underneath then it has either leaked or overflowed into the base.

Thanks Greg, just been pouring over the Masterpart catalogue, those model numbers are so tiny and there are soooo many of them. Spotted WFL2260 against a BS51118 which looks as though it will do.

    Re: Acorn cooker extractor fan

Paul, I have found a ‘Grease filter with indicator’ Paper type filter. available from Masterpart.

It states 50CM x 100CM cut to size. Not sure what that is in old money. 😀

I can order one of those if you wish.

Is there no number or model name on the front of the machine, inside the door, on the back, or on the instruction book 😕

As you have not given us any real info this will have to be a guess. F08 is almost certainly the same as ‘8 flashes’ supposedly 😥 a heater relay fault. In reality it can be a failure in one more components such as module, NTC,pressure switch, loose or faulty wiring etc. An often difficult fault to resovle even for the experts. Would advise seeking help, check the link in my sig to see if we have someone who can help.

If you do a forum search for Indesit/Ariston & 8 flashes you should get an idea of the problem.

    Re: HOTPOINT BF162

Led 2 flashing indicates a fill valve problem. Make sure the tap has not been accidentally turned off, that inlet hose is not kinked. After that I’m afraid its open up and testing time. Could be a faulty inlet valve, if so a local independant should be much cheaper than Hotpoint. Check the link in my sig to see if we have someone who can help.

You can see this stat quite easily from inside the door opening, can be changed from there by just pulling down a little if you are careful. No need to touch the drum.

Yes, even allowing for our , ‘one free hit’. I think that when she saw what had caused it she was more than happy to pay me at once. 8)

Very strange, still only 1702778 listed on Partfinder, 1703642 not even recognised. It is very unusual for Hotpoint superceded spares not to come with full fitting instructions.

Looks like you will need the assistance of some kind person with Emit 😉

I put the post in there to reach the widest audience of ISE interested people, aware of the doom mongers I took particular care with the full thread title. From that it should be obvious to 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of people that it is a tongue in cheek post. :rolls: 😀
