When you have finally, if ever, removed the bits from the hole, your next task, should you accept it, is getting the old spider off the drum, good luck. 😉

The reason for asking which neons are flashing by number from left to right is perfectly normal and logical. The same type of electronics card is used on a wide range of appliances from this company, Hotpoint, Ariston, Indesit, etc. Not all option lights are named the same, but the fault codes for each light are. There are some machines with four lights and some with seven.

That is why a polite and simple question was asked of you in the first place.

BTW. Its Delicate in plain English.

The scratches could be signs of rough handling, this may have distorted the cabinet which could be the cause of the scraping noise.

Would be interested to know what you paid for that rear half. Wiring diagrams are not distributed by the trade members of this site, they are in the main covered by manufacturers copyright.

You can seriously damage the expensive control module if you make a mistake, my advice is to seek expert help.

I have to say that the type of rating plate, or should I say stick on label 😥 used on these cookers is almost useless, the label on my own Hotpoint built in peeled off after about 18 months.

If you can still open the door then whoever the ‘pro’ was has left your machine without a legally required door safety mechanism, unless he has fitted another one. Either get someone else to have a look at it or keep any young children as far away as possible.

PS I liked Bill Ellis’s ‘Friedian’ ( Freudian) slip. It must be the lobster in your nickname that made him address you as ‘my dear fried’ :rotl:

Personally Thermidor is my favourite way to enjoy Lobster. 😆

I did hear that even brushes showing little sign of wear on these can still be faulty, strange how it spins perfectly. B****y heap of junk, I feel like doing a ‘Zidane’ on these machines. 😆

At least I know I am not alone if this one goes belly up. At a very rough estimate I would say that I am out of pocket on at least 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of calls on these horrid Italian tin cans. 😥

    Re: Ariston A1600WD belt fitting

This is a Hotpoint based machine. There is no adjustment, the belt is a ‘stretchy’ belt. If it keeps coming off and the drum is smooth and quiet when you turn it and there are no rust marks on the chassis behind the lower back panel then you need a new belt. The manual you will have is a user manual, it is not a service manual so would be of no use whatsover in this instance.

PS. If you managed to get the old belt back on yourself that would suggest that it is too slack. A new belt would be very, very difficult to get back on without the expertise required. 😉

It would make more sense after all, what bloke would think P45 was a fault code. 😉

Re: Length of program cycles Hotpoint WD420

It now seems as though the original fault was not a fault after all, imogen has replied to my question in the public thread, seems to insist that he/she (imogen/James) had timed the programme, but I am somewhat dubious.

My initial response to the first post would still be the same.

If that particular machine had been washing for 2.5 hours on a 40° wash and had not progressed to rinse & spin then there is a fault.

I did insert the old adage in an one post in that thread, ” a watched pot never boils” seems like we have one here.

    Re: Hotpoint SDW60

Difficult to be to exact on this. The two banks of neons on this machine are separate from the control module, it could be a fault in the wiring connections, the bank of neons or the main control module itself.

Engineer time to solve this one I would suggest. Click on the red tool box on the left to see if we have someone who can help.

Please remove the mains plug if you intend to investigate further.
