    Re: dryer fire risk

    The thing is that it isn’t really a safety ‘recall’ , it’s a free modification. 😉

    Your machine can have a 7.5, 8.0 or even an 8.5 uf capacitor. The rating is on the side and all of those are in the shop.

    Simple change over.

    It needs a new capacitor, but of more concern, have you checked your appliance on the Hotpoint/Indesit web site. I am pretty sure you have one of models that is the subject of a massive nationwide ‘recall’ due to a fire risk.

    Check it HERE

    How long between changes?

    The only cut out I can see is for the top oven and that should still keep the small cooling fan running.
    When the display goes dead can you still run the top oven?

    It does point towards a breakdown inside the main control unit which at around £88 is possibly a little too much on an oven that already has lots of components listed as obsolete. 🙁

    Not sure if they will supply to trade yet, almost 12 months behind and counting with their own and subbed work.

    The whole back panel is replaced, sometimes the complete drum as well depending on model. There is also a pop rivet that has to be drilled and fixed through the back of the drum.

    Can’t see it being cost effective for you to replace the complete back and possibly the drum as well TBH. ❓

    The electronics will self test and throw up an error code for heater faults even when set to spin.

    Correct part number should be C00119223 which should come with a large amount of wiring harness.

    Number you have is for a different model.

    The red glowing ring around the knob was on 1501 it looked good but was removed on the 1502. On the earlier 1500 there was a 15watt bulb behind the facia that lit up behind a square window.

    Re: Hotpoint HULT 943 – door doesn’t open

    F06 (F6): –

    Door lock fails to close / open, door lock PTC triac open/ closed, mains frequency signal fault, mains power signal fault.

    – Check for water leaks that may affect connectors J004 or J11
    (three-phase) causing the relative contacts to short;
    – Check Door lock terminal board (any problems due to
    aggression caused by manufacturing chemical residues that may
    cause short circuits);
    – Check J004 / door lock wiring;
    – Check door lock;
    Renew PCB.

    That is the full list, sadly the Indesit electronics in these machines are known to be very flaky and are often taken out by faults elsewhere. 🙁
