    Re: Hotpoint 9605 top loader.

Whilst the 1504 with the four pole motor was better than later two pole motor machines it was still not as good as the earlier 1502 with the Controls Company timer.

The flyback stat and the heater fixing stud that broke away where all weak points on the 1504. They did use the Controls Company timer on the very first 1504’s but changed it to a Mallory or Crouzet, these where not as reliable by a long margin.

    IMHO of course. 🙂

The groove worn in the drum ❓

Do you mean the inside of the clutch pulley? If so then that is never a problem, if the tips of the clutch shoes are pointed they are well past their use by date.

The ‘P’ is just a colour variant . The pcb may be £100 but that doesn’t include the cost of the £20 smart card and smart card reader needed to program the new pcb.

Most of EMW’s current prices are on their web site.

Strange as it may seem we do offer our help freely and without any other motive. The spares shop sales make not a single penny for me. 😉

If you didn’t tip it back then the pressure switch should be OK.

A careful visual inspection of all the components on the board, especially the resistors is all you can do.
Sending the board to someone like EMW electronics possibly the best option if it is damaged.

If the pump has actually burnt out you can usually see signs of overheating or charring on the pump windings. Sadly if the pump has burnt out then in most cases it will have taken the main pcb with it. 🙁

Also worth noting that if some of these machines are tipped back whilst still full of water then it can upset the pressure switch which will then need resetting.

The rotary switch is a common weak point on these, often a good spray of electrical switch cleaner into the switch will cure it for a while, just don’t be tempted to use WD40.

Why would you expect logic from an Indesit made machine. :rolls:

Worn brushes or poor motor wiring connections are one of the most common causes of door lock problems.
Don’t just buy some, check the old ones first.

Well it’s nowhere near the quality of a Miele for a start.

Does the drum rotate when set to spin cycle?

If not the motor brushes may well be worn out, well worth checking out and replacing.

The rear heater cover does look a bit Hotpointy in that picture. ❓

Having ‘blown up’ the original picture I am going to have to concede that stratfordgirl may well be correct.
Looking inside at the back of the drum it looks quite clean, doesn’t look like a fire started by fluff on the elements?
