ModeratorRe: Door for Crusader Dryer
If you can remove all the bowl retainers and the latch plate from the door and all the raised lugs that these screw into are intact, then you do not need a door trim. It is common for these to break off though.
Got to go out and do some proper work now 😉

ModeratorRe: Old (very ) Hotpoint , part required.
That would do nicely, the size of the hole is all that matters ( oh matron ) 😳
A pity I am busy, I could do with a trip to the seaside.
Will PM you my details.
Thanks.

It looks like you need a
1602662 door trim
1700627 latch plate
169042 bowl retainers ( as many as you require) 4 maxYou should be able to get that from spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk
at a fraction of the amount you have been quoted by Credaiadom

I think this is the part number you require, it is for the Hotpoint dryer with the later plastic latch……1700627
Hope that is correct ( not very expensive if it is not ) (£4.00)Do you open the door with a push button at the top or is there a handle on the door. That is the correct part for a push button opening door, but it will fit either.

Unfortunately there are some anomolies with the official parts ID software from Hotpoint/Merloni and this appears to be one of them. The diagram for a CT51V shows the old type metal latch lever and plate, not a plastic latch.
The parts will cost you nowhere near £73.00 the door was available as a complete part which is now listed as obsolete but even that was under £30.00
I will try and find the correct part number for the latch plate that uses a plastic latch lever.

The large plastic plate ( latch plate ) may not be broken, the lugs on the door trim that it screws into may have broken off. If required the latch plate is a 1602393. The small metal latch will only fit one way into the latch plate and when that is in position the spring fitting should be obvious, 😉

Ken,If your opinion of your electro/technical expertise is to be believed then I would strongly advise you to look here
We cannot give out this sort of information in a public forum and wiring diagrams are covered by copyright in most cases.
The fault you describe can be caused by things other than the control module, some of which you will have had to disturb to do your repair.
BTW, you do know that if your appliance is under 5 years old that Hotpoint would have replaced the rear drum half plus any other parts for a labour only cost of just under £90.

Your machine is a Creda/Hotpoint manufactured appliance.
The door is not available as a unit you will need the bowl retainers part number 169042 and a door trim 1602662. When you say the door locking mechanism, do you mean you have difficulty opening, if so the door trim breaking under the door latch is the most likely cause, but there are a couple of parts that can also break under the latch plate, the connector plate etc.I would think that if you sent an e- mail to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk we would be able to help you.

Fitted kitchen and available space would rule that out unfortunately. I did suggest she left home 🙂

Unfortunately I have not seen this machine but customer tells me that between his wife and himself they have managed to break the filter and strip the threads in the pump housing. 😥

iadom wrote:I have one customer that I had to change three seals in less than three months. The teenage daughter had a severe skin problem. I pointed them to Hotpoint’s website and they ordered the drum descaler that Hotpoint recommend online. I also advised them to pre soak all items of clothing that may have come into contact with the creams and this has made a big difference.
Well it lasted over nine months this time, I suppose that is better than the couple of months the previous one lasted but I have just been back to fit another seal on this machine.
The problem is that because of the extreme nature of the daughters skin condition, they find they cannot use Ariel/Daz type detergents and at the moment are using Fairy Non Bio. I have now suggested using Ariel or Daz tablets for the rest of the family ( two other children ) and using the Non Bio powder for the daughters washing only.
I may bring this seal to Sibson to show it to the ‘ detergent expert ‘ , he may have some suggestions but I think the only real cure is a seal made from different materials such as neoprene. How many manufacturers today will go down that route. 😥iadom

Chris.
You may have hit the nail on the head there, not sure if it is still available though. In the past 12 months I have had at least three late model WD’s with the much more reliable FHP motor tripping RCD’s . On all of them I have been unable to find any fault whatsoever, and never actually witnessed the RCD tripping. One was a
one month old machine in a school that had been fine until a complete building rewire. On one of the others I suggested that the customer had the RCD changed and that seems to have cured the problem.iadom

Just because Hotpoint may not inform customers of cheaper options does not mean that us independants should lower ourselves to their level. He was not informed of his options, he would certainly have gone to Hotpoint had he known, he has a very poorly paid job, if you think we do it for the love & not the money, try working for the Church Army. He did not want a ‘ quick’ fix, just to be dealt with by a trader with morals. As he is in the middle of moving to a new post in Sussex and is very busy with that at the moment, bringing the machine all the way from Cornwall to Oldham would be just plain daft. Also I think that £100 + labour ( we know the cost of bearings & spider )for what should be at the most a 2 hour job is rather steep, but then I do live in the poor & run down North. 😥 😉
I am sure the guy informed him how much the repair would be before carrying it out, right? His options then would be to try and get it cheaper if he so wanted to but chose not to by the sound of it.
It all comes down to morals and conscience, personally I could never charge someone £148.40 without informing them that they have a cheaper option that will also not invalidate their parts warranty. If they still insist on letting me do the repair then fine. I would sooner give it all up tomorrow than compromise on my principles. I have not advertised anywhere for over 20 years and am nearly always busy. I put that down in no small part to my reputation for honesty above anything else.
When my daughter was at her junior school, one of her teachers criticised her for having an, ‘over developed sense of right & wrong’ 😥 . I am as proud of that statement as any other of the many glowing reports she had thoughout her schooldays.
