If the problem reappears the wiring loom from motor to module is available as a spare, around £3.25 + vat. part No: 1603396

ModeratorRe: Black mould on door seals and black gunge in dispensers
I am convinced it is an algae problem, it is exactly the same mould you get round the bath or the shower. It is quite bad round this area. I do not have a problem on my WMA door seal, but the soap dispenser needs a regular clean to remove the black gunge, it is sometimes jelly like as well.
I never leave the door open, Use Daz Tablets, maximum of one, break it in half for small loads and use good quality fabric softener. At least one 60° wash every week.We have very soft water.

ModeratorRe: wma pressure switch / service test problems
Have you done a continuity test from the pressure switch plug to the module, could be an internal break in the wiring at the plug??
To be honest I do not have problems with the pressure switch on these machines, in fact I have never changed one. I have had this fault many times and it has always been a blockage, not soap gunge but small items that get down the side of the plastic coin trap/filter assy. one was a thin plastic sheet from a credit card, another was one of those “dye gone” sheets. It does not take much to cover the outlet from the sump into the pressure chamber, you need to remove the plastic filter to check.

There is a good chance that if Warnie or Brett Lee ever played club cricket they would score a massive amount of runs, neither of them are rabbits.
What a fantastic game though, there is no other sport that can have so many twists and turns in the course of a match, who needs footy. 8)iadom

Lawrence wrote:in washers I have always used fabric softener straight through the soap disp
LawrenceI use a bar of soap in the soap drawer hot fill side, some soaps like Dove, and other heavily perfumed soap bars will not work, but most will break down the detergent very quickly. This was an old trick we used to use on twin tubs, when the spinner got soap locked, rub the inside of the spinner drum with a bar of soap and before your very eyes the suds dissapeared.
Works much quicker than fabric softener with the right soap. 🙂The same thing happens with bubble bath, the foam will soon break down if you use the right kind of soap. ( thats why I know that Dove is ineffective ) 😉

ModeratorRe: Done It Again!
Is that why some posts have dissapeared, a post in the public washing machine section from someone who had fried his Hotpoint WMA40 module had a reply from Martin ( I think) that has now gone and a post in the Trade Technical about a Candy D/W had a reply earlier that has now vanished?????

I used to call my my coathanger, my ‘knicker extractor’ when I was at Hotpoint it was ideal for fishing things out of the old 1400 twin tub spin outer drum.

ModeratorRe: HOOVER TCE61 Filter light no HEAT
You should really do an insulation and continuity test before trying any appliance that has been repaired. A visual examination of the parts you are replacing may also reveal the fault. If the mains fuse or the circuit breaker did not fail in the first instance then replacing the faulty parts should cure the fault.
If you do not have recourse proper test equipment then it is really down to you as to wether or not you change any parts without testing them. We can only surmise about the fault ( a very educated and the result of years of experience kind of assumption ) but a guess all the same.
Common causes of stat failure are due to not cleaning the filters and also switching the dryer off before it has completed the 10 minute ‘cool down’ period at the end of the cycle.

Gavster & DB. I wonder if this information is lurking somewhere in the user manual. I would be interested to know if it is. 8)
