    Re: Whirlpool AWZ241 TD

Just been back to this machine, customer been on holiday, the metal strips that SparkyP mentioned are spotless. She says that ever since I went to have a look at it a few weeks ago it has worked perfectly. I don’t know how I do it, but I wish I could market it. 😆

Unfortunately the belt I have is a fraction to big. I have a POL66, the Qualtex alternative to a 481235818051 belt. Does anyone know the correct part number for this dryer?

The wires to the door lock on WMA machines go into a single plug, unless you force it, it will only fit one way. I would guess that your fault is elswhere. Or have you removed the wires from the plug.??

You do know that Hotpoint would have fitted you a complete drum assembly to cure the bearing fault for labour only if your machine is under 5 years old. Any other faults would also be covered but any 5 years parts g/tee is now invalid.

Just a thought, your machine is a WMA and not a WM ?

The wires to the doorlock on a WMA10 should be 2 white and one red.

    Re: TDS offline DVD 2005

Just had a play around with this, I installed Acrobat V5 from the DVD in a different folder with the plugins. Some of the PDF docs open in Acrobat 5 and some in Acrobat 7.

Install went OK , made sure Acrobat 5 went into a different folder to V7

Apart from a messy double install it seems to be working.

This ceset motor has the small spade terminals, the Qualtex CAR69 is also a match.

Just about to install this, anyone solve the Acrobat 5/7 conflict ?

I have Acrobat V7, ATM, have you removed that or used both side by side ?

If you look on the underside of the lifter you will see that the moulding at the front end looks like a letter K, This is what the drum tab locks behind. If you look inside the drum at the position this will align with, you will see the tab that needs raising, it is part of the drum itself. Lift it up about 25° to 30°.

Shine a torch into the bottom of the drum before you refit the new lifters to check for any foreign bodies.

Is it worth relacing the drum – approximately how much would it cost?

Thanks everybody for your help. ➡

£90 from Hotpoint if machine is under 5 years old, ( very unlikely that they would do this for a lifter fault ) approx £150 to £175 if over 5 years. I am in the trade so was able to offset the cost on my own machine.
Re my first post, do you make sure that the metal retaining tab on the drum is lifted before fitting?
I do occasionally get machines like my own , no matter how careful you are with coins/loading etc, and the refitting of the new part, the lifters still come adrift. It can be very frustrating.

My home phone is registered with TPS, which has reduced these calls, the problem is that a large number of these calls are now coming from abroad, the TPS can do nothing to stop them.

Anonymous wrote:The main cause off lifters coming off is caused by coins etc rattling about in the machine breaking the retaining lugs, i have not known them to come off for no good reason had one to-day took about £7.00 out off machine funny how it is always i always check the pockets!!!!!!!

I got fed up of changing them on my own machine, no coins or anything in the drum. I eventually changed the drum. There was one lifter that for some unexplained reason would not stay in.

NB. I have worked on hotpoint machines for over 37 years. 😉

Just watch Sky One, England 179 in 20 overs Australia are 28 for 6 in six overs. 😀 😀 😀

EDIT. England win by 100 runs, early days but the Aussies don’t give it away, that was very enjoyable for 20/20 slogfest cricket.

Well the real action is about to begin, even if it is only joke cricket.
England v Australia 20/20 match just starting at the Rose Bowl. 🙂

    Re: Hotpoint FHP 1000-1200 motor

Having been today to a WM machine that had a motor fitted last year by Hotpoint, I can confirm that some of their engineers do indeed use the original plug. In this instance he had cut away the socket on the motor to allow it to fit.
Can’t say I was impressed with his method of fixing the earth wire, he used the original ‘O’ tag and secured it to the motor front bracket with a plastic cable tie. 😥

Meant to post about this a couple of weeks ago, pulled 2 of these things out of a Hotpoint WMA sump at the time.
