ModeratorRe: Hotpoint FHP 1000-1200 motor
I used to use Qualtex ARM 20’s many years ago, before Hotpoint started supplying separate armatures. I have one old 18370 that had one in more than 10 years ago that is still running fine. It used to be a bit of a fiddle fitting the new motor pulley with the two split pins but now it comes with the pulley fitted. I have rarely had an ARM 20 fail, although they did seem a little noisier than gen ones, the recent ones that I have fitted have been fine. Although I have always fitted gen when available, the ARM 20 is more reliable but it does not come with brushes.
In fact about ten years ago, the genuine Hoover Logic armatures had a period when they failed constantly. I fitted 3 to one machine in six months. When I spoke to the local Hoover engineer he confirmed that they had serious problems, and he had bought Qualtex armatures with the blessing of his supervisor to cure persistant problem machines.Had a slight problem with an ARM 20 last week, the threaded hole for the tacho screw was a fraction to large, a slightly larger screw sufficed, not seen any others like this yet.

A couple of years back my Mother-In-Law gave me the “help” phone call as her freezer was making “bleeping” noises. As I couldn’t remember what make etc it was I asked her to make sure the door was shut etc, which she checked, all OK.
So, I flew round there thinking it was the high temp alarm going off to find it wasn’t even electronic !!
It was an unused smoke alarm in the cupboard above it “bleeping” warning her the battery was low 🙄
Dave.
Slightly OT, but on a similar theme, I was doing a repair for an ‘older’ lady and heard a bleeping noise. I mentioned it to her and she said, ” I know about it, I think I have a bird stuck in the loft, I have a builder coming round later to have a look”. I did advise her about the need to change the smoke alarm battery. 🙂

It can be difficult to persuade people to part with a trusty friend. 😉
Earlier today I went to a Hotpoint 18330, very early brown trim version of the purple 1850. It is around 26 years old. New backplate fitted over 10 years ago, since then a door seal, brushes and a sump hose. Physical condition is excellent apart from the motor bearings. The customer and her husband are both in their 80’s and even though I tried my best to tell them to invest in a new machine they insisted I do the repair, around £65 for armature & brushes. There is no doubt that this machine would have chugged along for a few more years but as I had used 5 armatures last week alone I didn’t have one with me.
I am glad to say that they rang me later and took my advice, I have passed them onto a local supplier who I work closely with and they are treating themsleves to a new machine. 8)

ModeratorRe: HELP Ariston oven – faulty door
Three different models of FV34D dependant on colour. There are three different hinges used on this machine. A silver ‘normal’ hinge a sliver ‘roller’ hinge and a black ‘heavy duty’ hinge. Very different in construction and removal.
Some manufacturers include instructions on door removal, via the hinges in their user manual, have you checked for this?iadom

Qualtex also list 2 pumps for AWB088, a PMP 32 and a PMP49(Copreci)

ModeratorRe: Hotpoint wd64 washer/dryer fault
Not an easy one to diagnose from this distance, could be intermittant/broken wiring contacts, control unit faults, motor TOC etc. That machine was first manufactured in 2002, are you sure it is only 14 months old? If it has an FHP motor as opposed to a GDA motor it is less likely to be a motor fault.
Be sure to remove the plug before you ‘open the box’iadom

Module for this one now listed as 1604321. Would agree with P45. Best to get it checked out, so many different things can cause these type of errors.

Are you sure, the WMM39A does not have the ‘Indesit’ type module/eeprom as far as I can see. ??

Well, the Bangla batsmen are at least making Englands bowlers work for their wickets for a change. I went into my local curry restaurant last night and the staff were all a little embarrassed by the Bangladesh performance to date. I obtained a ticket for one of the waiters, for the Bangladesh v Australia one day match at Old Trafford, it could turn out to be a ‘one morninger’ 🙂

Is that still available as a complete unit ? PF does not recognise it now.
Must admit I have never had to change a complete dispenser to cure a leak.

Also very high water pressures can cause the occasional dribble from the drawer, more so if you have a combi boiler, make sure that the whole of the drawer and the surround is clean and completely free of soap deposits. it can set like rock and prevent the drawer closing correctly. If your pressure is very high, try turning the pressure down a little using the two taps usually fitted behind the machine or under the sink.
