Looks like you misunderstood the emoticon, that one is supposed to suggest that I was confused or didn’t really have a definitive answer, not that the problem is obvious. 😉 Thats a wink BTW. 🙂

When you say ‘within the compartment’ do you mean inside the tub you put the dishes in? Burning smells in that area are usually due to the heater coming on without water in the machine or the main circulation pump failing.

No I did not misread, you asked what component could cause the machine to pop or cause a burning smell and yet continue to work, even for a short period and I answered that the mains filter was the only thing I could think of that would cause that to happen. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t another cause though. 😉

I didn’t say door switch, I said door switch pin. On the inside of the door towards the top, dead centre there should be a small white plastic pin sticking out. This actuates the door switch and often gets broken off or falls out. If you look on the front of the machine with the door open you will see the tiny hole that this little plastic pin goes into.

I can honestly say that I have never, ever replaced a motor on one of these but have changed loads of the actuating pins.

When you say you have ordered a door switch have you really ordered an electrical door switch or the push/push door latch that is operated by the latch to the side of the door?

As for changing the motor you would need a considerable amount of mechanical and technical ability plus a decent tool kit to do it. it is certainly not a simple DIY job. You would need to remove the sides, front, drum and several other internal components to do so.

They will do Don, also lots available at that price at Amazon, thing is they are less than 30 pence each from Farnell, just not sure I will be able to use 60 of them before I retire. 🙁 Perhaps I should buy a huge quantity from Farnell and sell them at three or four times the price on Fleabay. :rolls:

The pcb’s on Indesit machines are a well documented weak point, no heat is a very common failure. 🙁

That is the correct part number.

Motor failure is not very common on these, a faulty or missing door switch pin will give the exact symptoms you describe though. The only way to be certain the motor is faulty is to check it electrically with a suitable megger or multimeter.

I would also add that changing a motor on one of these is not an easy task by a long way, a major strip down is needed.

Could also be a sticking pressure switch or a fault on the main pcb keeping the door locked. 🙁

It could be a sticking float in the pump chamber at the back.

That’s not good news, don’t have my main PC on ATM but I’m pretty certain that is F08. If you do a forum search and enter ‘Indesit 8 flashes’ you will get some idea of the problems you may have. 🙁

Should have added that F15 is the dryer heater relay faulty. 😉

    Re: Indesit IWB5113 Eroor codes

The top row of flashing lights is not an error code, they all flash whenever any error is detected. Error codes are given by using the bottom five of the six right hand vertical lights, starting from BOTTOM TO TOP with the door lock being No:1. These lights do not flash but are on steady.
