grease often supplied with Zanussi bearing kits, never had to use it on Hotpoint machines when fitting new bearings but have occasionally heard the seal squeak on them after a few years.

Second hand Indesit a bargain! I don’t think so. :rolls:

Suck it and see, you should find several online videos of Hotpoint bearing changes, although the washer dryer one is more involved than the basic Hotpoint WM range it is based on.
Have fun.

ModeratorRe: scrap washing machines
I wouldn’t hold your breath for a reply, paulwma appeared out of the blue a while back with this post, then suddenly started asking very basic technical questions re repairs. He then registered under another username, also asking very simple questions that anyone with any real skill or experience would have known the answers to.
When asked for his trade references they did not pass muster so trade access was denied and one of his two usernames was deleted.
Our/my best guess was that he or a cohort was/is in the scrap business and decided he would try and make some money on the repair side with little or no idea what he was doing. If you read his posts which are all in the public forums you will get some idea of his skill levels. 😉

We don’t go into ‘blow by blow’ instructions, we assume some level of competence. 😉
Basically though its front panel off, rear back panel off, split the outer drum front from the main outer drum and then follow your nose.
If the drum has as much play as you say it has and the bearings have been failing for some time then not only will you have great difficulty in removing the main, front bearing in one piece but it is highly likely that the drum support shaft/spider and even the outer drum bearing housing will be damaged.
I would attempt to strip it down first before you order any parts, it has a very high probability of being BER. 🙁

Check motor carbon brushes and wiring connections first.

I don’t tap them in, I use the proper bearing fitting tool kit that has served me well for many years. 😉

My only question is why did you attend a machine which was under warranty???

ModeratorRe: Hotpoint Ultima says door is open when it isn’t
There is very little I can suggest from this distance, most faults that would stop it mid cycle such as no heat, no fill, no drain, pressure switch sticking, no motor action etc should all throw up an error message. The main reasons for stopping during a rinse cycle are failure to drain or failure to fill.
As it is a washer dryer, the dryer ntc is known to cause strange faults, it could be a faulty doorlock or worn motor brushes.
Apart from a visual inspection of all wiring and components and an electrical test of same there is no real option other than getting someone to have a look at it.June 7, 2014 at 6:27 pm in reply to: Drum spider ? Should I bother repairing or just replace it ? #414613iadom
