ModeratorNearly five years after my original post which wasn’t actually a ‘recall’ as such it may finally be about to happen?
https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknew…cid=spartandhpWhat an admin nightmare will that be. π

ModeratorHave you checked that the auto open has not been cancelled, or will it not even open using the button?

ModeratorIn most instruction manuals it does say to turn off the water supply when not in use. Ask to see the user manual for the machine, even though we know that 95{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of people do not turn off the taps when machine is not in use the fact it is in the instruction manual should remove any possibility of being your responsibility. Just checked a recent Hotpoint manual and it does state ‘turn off the water and electricity when not in use.

ModeratorNo reset as such, there is a procedure to erase the last known error from memory but there should be no need to do that.

Board level diagrams are unheard of, even for company engineers. And that is across the board not just Zanussi. π

ModeratorAccording to the tech E85 is a faulty circulation pump. That is the pump that is used to pump the water back into the drum during wash cycles.
It can also be the component (triac) on the main control board for this pump is faulty, that should show E84 but can also show E85.

ModeratorThere are five or six consoles for these Zanussi made machines. If yours has a round control knob to the far right with the OFF position at 12:00 you could try this.
switch off the appliance and turn the programme selector knob to OFF/RESET. ΒΒ¨ press button 1 and 2 ( the top two, far left vertical buttons) at the same time and then, while holding them down, switch on the appliance by turning the programme selector one position clockwise. After a few seconds either a buzzer will sound or the lights will start flashing. Rotate the timer knob slowly one click at a time clockwise. Dependent on model, at position 11, 20 or 23 an error code should be displayed with the letter E and two numbers. If you can find that then post back. Be sure to re connect the heater first though.

ModeratorYou can run a test cycle if you are prepared to fork out over Β£100 for the hardware key. π
What you are talking about sounds like a much older WMA model?

ModeratorNot sure which βtest modeβ procedure you are trying to use, however there is no mention whatsoever of any button activated test mode for this model in the service manual. As Dave has mentioned a hole rubbed into small pressure hose, often close to where it is clipped to the outer drum at the side is quite a common fault.

ModeratorFrom my reading of the manual that button is just to turn off the alarm once it is activated, not to disable it Dave.

ModeratorWell as you actually have to be in the vicinity of the dryer to hear the buzzer you could always just switch it off.;) As the same buzzer is used to warn of any faults it may not be wise to disconnect it.
