Depends on what you mean by cost to make.

Pure raw material costs in factory of origin circa £55-60 at present.

Landed in the UK available for distribution circa £90 for something like an M6011.

I was until earlier in the year able to buy the base model at £125.00 inc VAT with 12 months P&L warranty. Delivery was extra

Re: Belling format oven: heating element

    Hi Steve

It does sound like the element to me.

Unfortunately, belling made several main oven elements for the format range so we are going to need the model number to be certain.

If you cannot ascertain the model number (which should be on the back of the unit), try removing the back panel from inside the main oven cavity itself and look at the element from the inside.

Chances are it will be a completely round element, (known as ELE001) although some of them were strangely shaped a bit like the outline of a human head with hair (known as ELE450). Once you know what of the two it is, our spares@ service will be able to source one for you. The link is below my signature.

It is absolutely vital you disconnect the appliance from the mains supply BEFORE you carry out any inspection or repair on the appliance and don’t just rely on switching it off at the mains.

Your safety is more important than anything so don’t trust the housing wiring!.

As for changing it yourself, if you are reasonable at DIY you should be ok following the advise above. If you are in doubt, save yourself the hassle and get a proper engineer out to do it for you. Again, a good reliable one can be sourced by clicking on the repairs@ line below my signature.

If you need further assistance, come back on the forum and I am sure someone will help.

Re: How many calls a day?

    Bob Hi

We program our engineers to do 8-10 calls per day and cover 80-120 miles around it.

However, our computer systems will interogate each booking to see what we are actually doing a drum change is allowed additional time to be completed.

It is possible then for our system to consider an engineer full at 4 drum changes and will refuse to book any more to that engineer unless a managers override is put into place.

    Hummmmmm…..

Worrying times especially with Christmas fast approaching.

As an agent doing 300 plus jobs a month for GBDAR this was worrying when I read it last night. However, this morning I have received confirmation of my payment due at the end of this month and I have had my accounts team reconcile it this morning. It balances to the penny so I am obviously not affected by this rumour.

I was still worried, so I had a conversation with their MD just a few minutes ago as I dont want nor can I afford to have any financial problem biting me in the you know where at this time of year and I specifically raised the point above from Ken.

I am assured that there is catergorically no problem with payments from GBDAR and that the only agents not receiving monies they claim are due are agents where the invoice to GBDAR is incorrect or missing information or factually wrong for whatever reason.

I would suggest any agent in doubt speak to GBDARs accounts team without delay to confirm their position.

GBDAR aren’t my biggest client and are used to fill scheduling for my engineers to keep them full and the reason we continue with them. The work is dead simple although the rates are pretty poor but its a business choice I made to stay with them rather than cut staff. One thing I can say about them without reservation is they have always and without fail paid me what I am owed in full and on time.

Indeed, I have on occasion been quite fortunate with them in that I have been paid upto a week early. I dont know of any other WP doing that!!

So all of us who are owed money start adding the 8{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} and notify them of the fact.

Not exactly correct. The Late Payment of Commercial Debts Act 2002 made it possible for smaller companies to obtain legal redress on those companies owing monies in excess of the agreed credit terms.

Basically, the act allows you to claim both an admin penalty fee and interest by law if another company is late with its payments, it works like this:-

You can claim an admin fee legally if a debt is late. The amount you can claim is based of the size of the debt as follows:-

Debt (including any applicable VAT) is upto £999.99. The claim is £40.00
Debt (including any applicable VAT) is £1000.00 to £9999.99. The claim is £70.00
Debt (including any applicable VAT) is over £10000. The claim is £100.00

    This can be applied automatically.

    The second section of the act allows you to claim and continue to claim a predetermined interest rate. That rate is 8{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} above the agreed base rate (currently and until 31 Dec 2006 the base rate is deemed to be 4.5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}) thus the actual current rate as of this morning is 12.5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}

Both of these elements under the act are your legal statutory rights to compensation, all you need to do is claim them.

To be able to claim the following needs to occur.

    1) The debt has to be determined as being late.

A payment is determined to be late when one of either of the two following situations occurs.

    a) YOUR agreed credit terms have expired. for example, your agreed credit terms are say net 7 days from invoice; then payment is deemed to be late on the 8th day from invoice.

    or

    b) Where NO credit terms have been agreed then the Act sets a default period of 30 days from invoice, therefore payment is determined to be late on the 31st day after invoice.

You can only claim interest for the number of days late, not from the date of invoice.

Using a) above, the invoice is unpaid for 8 days, then this is 1 day late.

Using b) above, the invoice is unpaid for 35 days, then this is 5 days late.

To calculate the interest due use the following calculation

Amount of Debt x Interest Rate (12.5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}) divided by 365

This will give you the daily rate of interest. multiply whatever this figure is by the number of days late to get the accrued figure

    for example

The debt is £1000. The debt is 30 days late. The calculation is as follows:-

    £1000 x 12.5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} divided by 365 equals .34p per day

.34p multiplied by the 30 days the debt is late equals is £10.27 accrued interest.

Interest stops accruing on receipt of payment (not when the payment has cleared). If you are paid by cheque, this means it stops accruing on receipt of the cheque not when the cheque clears. Of course should the cheque subsequently bounce for whatever reason then thats a whole different ball game altogether.

If a partial payment occurs then the payment is used to pay off the accrued interest first and then the debt itself. Interest will then continue to accure of the new balance of the debt at the new daily rate.

You can continue to accrue interest indefinitely although it is common practice to pursue the matter into court after 10 days.

Remember, VAT is included in the amount of the debt if you are VAT registered.

The admin penalty fees and interest charges are NON VAT attributable.

If the debt is over £750 (including VAT and the above charges) and the debt is not disputed then you can issue a Statutory Demand and thereafter petition the courts to wind up the company or bankrupt the individual as appropriate.

As with all matter legal it is best practise to write to the company concerned and point out your intentions and give them a reasonable time frame to comply with, (7 days is sufficent) with your agreement. Always, always send this notice in writing by recorded delivery to ensure it is signed for.

If you do need to go to court, proof that you have acted reasonably will be required to support your claims. Written notice, giving reasons and reasonable time frames to resolve the issue which are sent by recorded delivery do just that and almost all courts accept and take it as evidence. 😀

My sympathies to all of you owed money and I am more than a little surprised by JTM’s actions. I hope you will resolve your issues sooner rather than later.

    Best regards all

    Re: Samsung washing machine??

We are main service agents for Samsung and to be honest they are ok as machines go but nothing special. The all singing all dancing versions dont add much to the basics of the machine but additional price and IMO the machines arent built to last long periods.

Indeed, I am aware currently of a Samsung model where a certain part is obsolete despite the units still being under warranty. Machines with this particular fault are having to be exchanged.

The real question to be asked here is what type of wash and aftersales service are you after, and how much do you want to spend achieving it.

If your after a triple A rated wash and want a good quality reliable machine with second to none aftersales service that is going to be good for 7 to 10 years of useful life and can afford it, the ISE appliance is the defo the way to go.

It comes with a built in 5 year parts and labour warranty for your protection and peace of mind. It will be delivered, installed and demonstrated in the price and any future aftersales service will be provided a a trusted, experienced and reliable local service company.

There are not many machine out there offering this level of service, reliability and guarantee, including your Bosch etc.

As a rule of thumb, I advise customers to spend approx £125.00 per year they want the machine to last. So on this basis budget £625 or so for a machine you want to last say a good 5 years.

Using this method and applying it to the Samsung machine at £250, great as long as you can afford to replace it every 2 years or so.

As you can see, the ISE appliance at £499 is excellent value for money and before you ask, nope we dont retail them (yet!)

Re: Samsung P1253 Washing Machine Stopped Spinning

    Hi Brian

Firstly, check to make sure all the water appears to be emptying from the machine. If the machine does not empty, or takes too long to empty it can affect the way the machine attempts to spin.

If it appears to do this, then I would suggest the main program module is faulty. (Reasonably common on these units). Unfortunately, you cannot easily test the module. If I were you, I would call an engineer as Samsung Washing Machines are covered by a 2 year parts and labour warranty, so get on to them

    Hi foxette

In order for us to help you we are going to need a bit more info.

First, we are going to need the full model and serial number of the appliance.

Next we are going to need to know what the fault is, unfortunately your description is too vague to be of use.

If you come on to this site with as much information as you can, we can advise you accordingly.

We look forward to hearing from you shortly.
