ParticipantRe: Unbeatable rates, no call out charge!
I had a lady phone me today asking my advice on a 18 month old hotpoint washing machine, she describes the fault and informs me that she has already had someone out to look at it and he has advised her to contact hotpoint (basically he doesnt know how to fix it) my reply is well i can come and have a look and diagnose your fault give you a price and you can then decide where you want to go with it. Her next question is will you give me a free a estimate? , ummm no i wont i will charge you 25 pounds for that, but the other guy came out for nothing, to which my reply was, yeah and he has told you to go back to hotpoint hasnt he, basically because he cant diagnose your problem, yeah i see your point is her reply, ok i will think about it !
She wont come back to me as she just doesnt want to pay for my expertise and l say why should i go and do something for nothing , i have plenty of customers who realise i need to make a living and there is no taste or smell to nothing.

Hi
I would advise that you go here
http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … whitegoods
and select an engineer in your area as fault codes can be misleading 😕

ParticipantRe: How much would it cost to make a Servis washer?
i was told by a person who worked for a moulding company that to produce the plastic tubs in machines would cost approx 1p in material and about 35k for the mould and machine setup to do it. if this is correct then i would say the cost to produce these machines on mass production is not very much at all !!

ParticipantRe: DHL and Their Lifestyle Couriers Grrrrr?
get onto your supplier and bang on about it to them. you have paid for next day so you expect next day delivery. i have arrangements with various couriers to leave parcels unsigned for but left in a designated place this could be an option for you.

ParticipantRe: Zanussi DW908 – Water not draining – Drain pump broken?
umm no, just because you may think its excessive based on what you charge doesnt mean that another person with a different size business different overheads what the competition charge etc etc is charging excessively. Regional differences have a big part to play as well so you cant compare unless you know what that regions average charge would be.

ParticipantRe: Zanussi DW908 – Water not draining – Drain pump broken?
if it is the drain pump that needs replacing and its not blocked as previously indicated then £100 would be about right !

ParticipantRe: What resistor do I need?
