Pretty good by all accounts. On the washing machine I have probably done about 6 door latches and a couple of seals since they first came out. Then last week had one that required a back half drum but all in all not bad. The matching dryer has the same guts as the Whirlpool American dryer so all that needs done is the occassional heater stat and the usual inline fuse.

JM, where you at on this? Personally I’d rather you stay in, it allows a certain balance even if you don’t input too much. Plus, it keeps Martin out which is reason enough to sell your soul to Satan!

    There is that 😈

Sorry for not butting in earlier but have a few problems with them bloody yanks over the past couple of days.

I have went over all the posts re; the WTA and am struggling to make sense out of some of it. I will make a list and see if it makes sense 😕

Are we proposing that the AC becomes the ruling council for the WTA?

If so does the council not need to be elected because if it isn’t elected I dont want to be in the room when Adolf, sorry Martin hears about this.

Correct me if I am wrong but looking at the list of candidates is also a reason for concern, five of them IIRC have never been to a UKW meeting, do we not need people that will show there face now and then.

If the council was open to an election I could not serve on a council with Martin, he get really gets to me at times and I would need to buy a “black coat” 😆 The issue over the printer has really pissed me off, it was in an open forum and there was not a massive “no” campaign re the printer, Ken posts that he is going to buy it and we get that load of drivel!!! IMHO moderators and Directors of UKW should not be in conflict in the public forums as all it does is give ammo to the external hecklers/ DASA officers and manufacturers who want to say “I told you so”

I also don’t know what would be expected of each individual on the council, I am thinking of how much time would a councillor need to allocate to do the job and what would we be letting ourselves in for?

Looks like a cock up on their part, The prices above are Whirlpool retail so all you would need to pay on top is postage.

    Re: Outer door for whirpool

The numbers Chris has given are the correct ones but the bottom glass is now superseded by part number 481245058885
Bottom glass is £89.68 +vat retail
Top glass is £83.25+ vat retail

Who quoted £220 for a door glass??

Who gave you the price of £220??
The retail price for outer door for this oven is around £100
You would need the full 12nc number as there are 3 different versions

Have searched for the part number but cannot find it right now but they are out there….

If you can get that number Mark I will buy you a drink at Sibson, I have tried to get this on numerous occasions with no joy.

If you post the number I will stick it into ASTRO and see if the part can be ordered.

IIRC the “top hat washer” is not available as a spare part, comes as part of the motor 😈

    Re: New web site ?

And I thought we were a sad bunch till I followed this link http://www.automaticwasher.org/ which seems to be a website dedicated to 1950’s american appliances, just noticed in the wanted section that they will pay up to $300 for old hotpoints 😆 I can smell an export oportunity here!!!

One bit that looked cool though was the map at the bottom of the page showing the user stats for the day, It shows where in the world people logged in from!!

Never, I would gestimate that in about 95{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of cases when the timer is blown it is either the door lock or heater/NTC that causes it.

You’ve hit the nail on the head Jim, I have blown a few new timers on this type of machine only to find a short that had took out the original timer.

I would bet on the new timer being knackered now 🙁
