Tell I would be checking wiring from float switch to see if that is cutting out,the other thing is timer is it cyling on the stat or cycling because the timer is knocking it off?
The other thing that springs to mind is has anyone else been at the appliance because i had an old creda doing the same thing and the recirculating fan had been fit the wrong way round.kiddo66

Got called to a new Cannon cooker today ignition clicking constantly (no it does happen 😉 )Walked into house and cooker was standing in tthe hallway not connected”oh we made him take it out again cos it was driving us mad” right so i swap the cookers over and before connecting it i decide to follow company instruction and test earth resistance.
I find that the polarity is reversed in the socket 😯 hence the clicking from the spark gen,I have had one do the same before and that house was the same (just been rewired and some numpty crossed the main tails.
I inform the customer of my findings thinking she will be eternally gratefull to me for spotting a potential catastrophe for her :rolls: Oh how wrong could i be”well it didnt do this with the old cooker”yes i know but”maybe the shop will just give me my money back”but there is nowt wrong with the cooker you need your electrics sorted.
Anyway i set off down the road an hor or so later i have the dealer on the phone who has just had the customers son on to him.I explain the problem and the dealer is happy enough.
An hour later the dealer is back on “the customer has had an “electrician” check the socket and it is ok.
I explain again that the socket might appear to be wired right but if he would care to lick his finger and stick it on the neutral wire then he will get a belt,by now i am getting a bit ratty especially when the “electrician”suggested swapping the wires in the socket just to make that one ok 😯 😯 😯 😯 😯

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WD860P
Various heater boxes on this one,the one with the filter in the top of tub usually gives this problem, check it and the sump are clear, check water is running through flushing valve as well.
Is the front pcb into the the retaining clips and are all the buttons functioning properly ie none stuck in.kiddo66

Aww it makes me all nostalgic, first machine i ever went to when i was let loose on the general public was one of these.

ParticipantRe: hotpoint dishwasher
One thing to look for if they have changed the pcb is the test resistor that is clipped onto the board of some bit 100 timeers,if they havent changed this over it can give you a weird fault.

Well DH you will get no more arguement from me.I did try to tell you what happens in these situations via pm but you obviously didnt understand.
What you perceive as £900 worth of parts is in reality a small fraction of that considering the mark up on parts.
The multiple repairs are not PAID for by D&G if we revisit any machine in under 12 months for the same fault we dont get paid.
D&G impose strict guidelines on any exchanges put forward by US and if parts are available irrespective of number of visits it has to be repaired.
As superfix has said you have purchased a repair plan not an exchange plan.
Helo is referring to a clause on SOME D&G policies that state if a machine requires a certain amount to be spent on it then dependent on age it will be replaced with an equivalant model.
I stated in the PM the way that i think this should go and I hope you get a satisfactory outcome but you dont know me so dont presume I am selfish and couldnt care less about my customers because you couldnt be farther from the truth,on the other hand I am realistic when it comes to dishing out exchanges(under guarantee before you start)as some customers have been known to embelish the facts slightly.
Good Luck

You work for Comet don,t you.
Let me repeat myself Merloni employed engineers working on D&G contract covered machines CAN NOT write the appliances off for BER it has to be repaired if the parts are available.
We are also measured on how many appliances we exchange for any reason so it isn,t the easy option for us.
That machine you were at today would have had a new harness and module fit, both van stock items :rolls:kiddo66

We have been told that B.E.R is at our discretion 😕
I will believe that when i see it.kiddo66
ParticipantRe: Hotpoint, arrrgggghhhh!! What are my options??
Anyone wanna buy a slightly used (just over a year) burnt out Hotpoint machine (nice smells by the way, and the smoke detectors work in the house, lol)?
You stated at the start of your postings that the machine was 21 month old 😉 Time flies i suppose.
I am not going to get into a”war” i just want to put you straight on a point of fact.D&G pay upfront for the repairs that Hotpoint carry out on their behalf, they give the company a lump sum at the start of the year and when its gone its gone.D&G will make all the right noises but are paying for nothing not even a replacement machine,I am sick of going into houses to be told “D&G say i can have a new machine if you say so”
B******s they will i know ive tried as soon as you ring them up its”oh you have to ring Hotpoint”
As Kwatt rightly stated we have to work with what we have and one thing i do know is that i never have anyone on my patch that has had that many visits because I have a good bunch of engineers around me and it wouldnt drag on like that.
If your machine has caught fire and there were flames then i would be suprised if any attempt were made to fix it.
As I am employed by Merloni i cant go into too much detail on this but if you pm me I will give you my opinion on it.kiddo66

Test your heater, earth faults on the heater bring up valve fault code.

ParticipantRe: You must be CORGI registered to work on gas!!!
Someone mentioned the M.O.T well maybe it is time the onus was put onto the householder to prove to us repairers /installers that their gas system is sound and that all ventilation is adequate.
Personally when i install a gas cooker/fire in a council owned property i feel that i can be fairly confident that there will be no leaks and that everything is in order due to the fact that the fire/boiler is checked yearly by the local authorities contractors.
It is in the private owned property that i have always had a problem ie drop test finds that there is a leak before i start work and all hell breaks loose.
I think that all hoseholders should be made to pay for a yearly check and show anyone doing any “work” on their property a “landlords certificate”then we might be able to move forward on the issue of training and as has been said before not have to train everyone up chapter and verse on the gas regs. -
