The top element is a combined grill and upper heating element, as is the case with most but normally you’d expect just the outer part of it to heat when on a convection oven setting and not to have any infrared heating going on, so it’d not “glow”.

Nope. If it was all working okay before, it should be once you replace the lock assuming that was the only problem.
I’d suspect the seal isn’t seated back correctly from what you’re saying.

I’m afraid that to get to those the cooker has to come out and the hob deck lifted, there’s no alternative.

Companies like this will keep on cropping up, they do so in goodness knows how many industries as I’ve looked at any number of them and they range from the reasonably credible to the downright charlatans. Some are big names, most aren’t but it’s the same old same old, in one way or another they make promises to punters, charge them bugger all and take all the revenue from the people that do the graft. It’s the only way their models can all work.
Here’s the thing though.
If the people who do the graft tell them to do one, they’re stuffed. Absolutely stuffed.
The punters are then forced to look for another option and that option is only a Google search away.

There is no bypass for that one, sorry. You need the filter in place or it will leak.
