    Re: Coinamatic Commercial?

most american top loaders exit there drain hose through the rear at the top Jim so no gravity draining, the only coinamatics I have seen were ones where they were a wrap round cabinet and you had to pop two hidden tabs along the front of the lid and then you could access the drum top,the only way to drain them was to syphon the water out of the drum with a piece of garden hose

I like the idea ,would need some serious looking at though,as we know from the forums one mans definition of a safety check is another mans all consuming passion in life…
Also what if you were to find a Beko F/F or Samsung F/F that was unmodified do you switch it off until they have the mod done ? if you leave it on and it subsequently catches fire where do you stand ? Or an appliance in a patently dangerous situation.

Re: EEEsafe ,Graham Dixon & Robert Alexander

    And this arrives today

As you know I like to keep you informed on the EEESafe project and thought that you would be interested in considering allowing aspects of the EEESafe site to mention that EEESafe supports the WTA Code of Practice and as such would expect those registering with EEESafe to agree and abide by them too. It could help increase awareness and membership for the association.
We have our own code of practise why would we want to be associated with theirs? Increase membership ?

DASA has already confirmed that it wishes to be associated with it and we would be more than pleased to include the same reference and requirement for the WTA. See my earlier post bearing in mind that those supporting it are on the DASA committee

You can check out the relevant section at – http://www.eeesafe.com/codeofpractice.html

If you are in agreement (or not) it would help if you could let me know as soon as you can – no commitment we just want to stress to all concerned that we wish to include all in the EEESafe project. Diplomacy Lawrence

The additional meeting we had with Ian at Coventry was most welcome as it clearly showed to those bodies that there is genuine concern and common ground within the sector for improvement but feel hampered by the ineptitude of those outside the sector that do not understand the real issues of those within it. What I actually said was that if government didnt get its finger out we would have no independent appliance industry in ten years – this in no way was in support of EEESafes stance re their project

I won’t drawl on other than to say that like Ian we all need to see action as opposed to rhetoric and to this end we are issuing some interesting press releases which I feel would be of interest to all in the trade. Look forward to reading them

You can find them on the website or better still you could contact Robert via email r.alexander@eeesafe.com and he will be more than willing to provide you with the information. (We thought it was time to fire a few shots across the bows of DEFRA, WRAP etc as being helpful and patience for so long has not appeared to result in anything positive – especially in relation to PAS 141). My position on PAS141 is that it was developed as a stage 1 standard which will be improved as we go along – also best not to shout to loud about how crap it is when government supported and paid for its inception

I will let Ian fill you in on his meeting with them.

    Re: February 2013 Meeting

    Whitegoods Conference 2013

For all those that attended and contributed to the recent Whitegoods Conference please accept our heartfelt thanks for your involvement and we hope that you found the conference to be, as ever, as useful and productive as ever.

Our apologies for the late start this time but, due to some unexpected late availability of the meeting room and the late arrival of the AV equipment the meeting was stalled for a short time. However, that did not deter the WTA team and other enthusiastic people from working till after 1am the night before to set the meeting room up, print name badges and much more in preparation for the following day.

The meeting commenced with an introduction and short update on WTA progress from the current chair, Lawrence Carey.

Lawrence detailed some of the progress that had been made as well as informing about the WTA’s work over the past year with various manufacturer’s and government bodies to help the members interests.

Much of this information can be found in real time within the WTA member forums but a summary of this was given.

We then had a talk by both Lawrence and Kenneth Watt of UK Whitegoods on customer service in general using the amusing “Dallas taxi driver” story to highlight the perceptions that customers have and, how we can do better as an industry in this respect.
As usual with these presentations the actual presentation was merely a collection of bullet points around which a live and vibrant talk was given with all the information being presented in that medium.

The next talk was by Ian Dales and Lawrence on progress with DEFRA, WRAP and others in respect to repairs, reuse and recycling. The talk explained some of the thinking behind current government policies and where it was likely to go in the future as well as how the WTA was helping input member’s opinion.

After lunch Malcolm Scott from Swift Distribution gave an update on industry trends with the main point being that the built in and integrated sector continues to grow despite the glut of bad news in the media about retailers going bust.

Much of the rest of the day was left open in response to requests from attendees and members feedback from previous meetings asking that more time was allowed for people to browse the stands and take meetings. We listened and left as much of the day as possible free to allow for these wishes.

Feedback that we have received thus far has indicated that everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meeting as well as finding it very productive and, on occasion, lucrative as well from contacts made.

We will look forward to seeing you again in February 2014 but, in the meantime don’t forget that we hold the smaller and more informal meeting in September.

    Re: AGM 2013

I have to say I am pleased we didn’t have the AGM after all,It seemed like everyone and there dog wanted to talk to us before they left .
One suggestion that I heard a couple of times was have we ever considered a “virtual “AGM.
Basically we publish a Chairmans report about the activities of the association and welcome comments /questions over a set time frame ,once that time frame is up then the thread is locked ?
I think the reasoning was that we have a very open structure in place in the forum where anyone can ask a question in the open at any time .
So why do we need to come together at cost and inconvenience to
ask /be asked things that can be done online ?
    What do people think ?

    Re: Feb 2013 Meeting

CK will be there ,they are setting up an account for us and providing £150 worth of free stock ,they are also setting up an internet based ordering system so that as members order tools CK will post them direct to the member,we will get a discount of 40{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} that means we can supply members at less than they can buy from elsewhere .
They want to work with us but we are an unknown quantity to them at the moment, but going forwards it could be interesting…
