Re: National Hoovering Of Service Work

I think that this is the Sleeping Giant in our Industry ,our competition used to be the other repairers around and about us ,but now you have national companies targeting our customers ,It staggers me that a call centre in Birmingham can take a call from a Customer in Ipswich and thats one of my potential customers gone
I am not saying that competition is a bad thing but to compete properly you need to know who the competition are ,and its becoming more and more obvious that its no longer the local companies its the national ones .

Which leaves us with a choice as independents
1.Carry on as we are ,trouble is the work is disappearing .

2.Do what we have always done ,trouble with that is we are in danger of being what we have always been.
    Or we compete ..
But how do we compete ?
Be a bit savvy about stuff ,learn how the internet works and adapt accordingly.
Look outside of our own little worlds at whats happening around us ,join the WTA and be a part of something that desires change in our industry .
I really think that if the independent repair industry doesn’t wake up to whats is slowly gaining a momentum around them and start to offer a viable alternative then we are in trouble ..

    Re: Us ~vs~Them

my rule of thumb over this has been along the lines of

If you take out machiavelli, and the desire to kick over apple carts ,in a dispassionate view does this stack up well lets see –

    1. will it benefit the members -yep
    2. will it cost the WTA financially -If we do it right ,not as much as we may think .
    3. will the outcome be worth the input -I think so
    4. will there be legal implications for us as the team in charge -maybe but thats advice we take further down the road

I think we should do something ,this won’t be a full on toe to toe scrap ,this will be a little more subtle ,there will be a lot of “bigger picture “stuff going on ,and stuff happening that on the fa e of it may not make sense ,but there will be a broad outline and plan of action put together .

This makes my blood boil, the people on those plaques fought and died to give us a free society ,the very freedom that allows these scum bags to do this ,and there is also the matter of the bent scrap merchants that take the stuff as well ,like I say makes my blood boil

Agreed ,it’s like when fault codes came out on the Servis quartz ,they still didn’t tell you the obvious basics they just narrowed it down a bit .
But with some of the diagnostics programs on machine it would help
