ParticipantRe: Zanussi Washing Machine ZWF1621
That sounds like the kind of fault that you’re only going to have any chance of finding by going through machine with a fine toothed comb. Or swapping parts one by one until the machine starts working correctly again. And like as not you may end up not finding the fault or laying out lots of dosh in a futile attempt. I’d do all the cheap and quick stuff and if that doesn’t work pass them on to the manufacturer’s agents. I’d start by meggering motor and heater, which you’ve probs already done. Then do as much disconnecting and reconnecting of all terminals as is feasible, and tugging to check for broken wires. Possibly pull out board to look for dry joints. Or give up now and save yourself from baldness. (Cause you won’t know if it’s cured until the customer’s tested it again.) And you will be unlikely to ever come across the same fault ever again so it won’t even have been a valuable learning experience.
One other possible would be to try entering the “diagnostics”. Though it might not lead to much.

I think the codes apply to all machines. They don’t change from model to model. Mediator on CDSL site will show them or consult error codes thread/book.

£9.75 😯 No point me remembering that password then. Just like everywhere else. For years you get used to pumps being £3/£5 and then suddenly they hike up all the prices. The cheapest with TOC I’ve been able to find of late has been the WMA one which at CDSL is £9.95 although I think Masterpart do two for £7/£8 each. It’s a Playset one of course and with reverse terminals, so won’t fit all. At one point I looked into the possibility of buying the TOC’s from RS but they were a bit pricey and would be fiddly to fit.
Also you can often get fooled by a picture of a pump which looks like it has a toc because the terminals are placed a certain way (Askoll) and/or there’s a raised compartment on the coil cover (Playset). When it arrives you find that was just an empty promise.
I don’t know if a toc protects the pcb but that picture on here somewhere of a pump that caught fire made me wary.

Would it not be worth trying in a door lock or at least bridging the old one just to be certain that it isn’t the lock at fault?

Would think it also worth a careful examination of pcb’s to look for visible damage which may be repairable.

ParticipantRe: petrol
Well, I’ve lost a couple of bikes that way but no tools as yet. I now carry the valuable parts of my toolkit (multimeter/megger and power screwdriver) in a small shoulder bag and take it into the supermarket with me. If somebody were to pinch my panniers, I could replace everything there from what I have at home already or lay out say £40. But so far it’s never happened. (Maybe there’s a predominance of honest people round here, though you’d never think so to look at some of them ) At each supermarket I use, I have a favourite place where I chain the bike where it is visible to others but not “tempting” if you see what I mean. Hopefully, if someone did whip my panniers, someone else would see them and get suspicious. I think most potential thieves realise there’s unlikely to be rich pickings in those tatty panniers with the 1/4″ extension bar sticking out.
The bikes I lost were when I was too trusting and left unlocked at the train station, or when I left one in a place which wasn’t visible from any windows.
You can take bikes on local trains by the way, though I’ve only done that a few times as it’s a bit of a pain.

No need for a trailer. I carry two handy panniers, total about 10Kg and still carry lots of stuff I seldom use. Think of the advantages with parking, whizzing past congested traffic, wind in your hair etc., admiration of, and fiver tips from, customers who think you’re saving their planet…… or just feel sorry for you. 😆
Now’s the time of year to make a start. Just do one or two close to home jobs to begin with. This won’t save you much money but you’ll enjoy life more. (You can always nip back if you haven’t got what you need.)
As you gain confidence, very gradually increase the number of jobs and distance you cover. Maybe one day realise the dream of saying goodbye to the car and all its expenses altogether.

ParticipantRe: hvr nextra dishwasher
Whenever I see the name Nextra my heart sinks. They nearly always seem to have inscrutable faults. Best thing to do would be check if there’s a reed switch type flow meter and see if connection to it is sound. Failing that you might be looking at a £30 module.

ParticipantRe: Comet Service & Customer Aftercare
In those good old golden days before I joined the trade, (things always seem to start going downhill when I join, I’ve no idea why :?) I wonder what proportion of the population actually owned a front loading automatic, and how many times a week they used it?
I would speculate that today’s machines get more of a hammering (misses modern ain’t got time to measure in the detergent, sort the load, or worry if it’s walking about the kitchen) and to not own one (in the UK) is pretty exceptional. So, whilst robustness has had to suffer to meet the changing market, I think there might also be these other factors to take into account. We may well see container loads of BER machines on their way to be scrapped but when all is said and done, those “unlucky” customers have often had two to five years use for a paltry £174.99. In real terms, adjusting for inflation and the price of fish, this might not be so bad, from their point of view, as compared with the time when some of the old g1ts on here started their businesses.:D

Is it a Plaset? Maybe you could just pull the rotor/impellor assy out of a cheap plaset and pop it in that one? (I’ve done it with early Askolls.)

91940263 is fan motor complete for fan oven (ring element) for model TCP21X which I should think would be same. See Connect mediator for exploded diagrams. (Home page > left list > “cookers and ovens” > Candy > select model > select “mediator” tab.)
