Wouldn’t catch me not trying to repair a dry joint before replacing board. £125 + the usual at Connect and out of stock. How many customers would pay that much for a repair?

BTW, the stat with 4 terminals. If the two in the middle are smaller it’s an accelerator heater resistor for the main stat. So it’ll have an appropriate high resistance.
    Mike.
PS, There’s a little notice on the lower front of machine telling you something like, “If th.fuse is o/c replace it and the…?…Stat etc.”
Also, behind rear control panel is a folded paper circuit diagram.

There are two types of thermal fuse. Both 91deg.
    Different shaped bodies.
I think you’ve got a Connect account Rob, so you only need tap in Whirlpool tumble dryer thermal fuse into the search box and they both come up.

    Re: LG WM1480FHD

I had similar this last week. Reported fault was DE intermittent and becoming more regular. Fitted new lock Saturday – fault still there and became worse in that machine would not even turn on!
Took boards out. Did a functional check on tactile switches and found most of them to be intermittent. then looked at jellied board and could see signs of burning in the jelly. Took both boards home.
This morning, re-tested tactile switches and replaced dodgy ones. Cut away plastic from back of power board around burn area and tried to remove jelly from printed side but gave up. Decided it might still work anyway. And after putting it all back it works fine.
I think the brown marks in the jelly were from a big blue suppressor type capacitor thing and if the machine fails again I’ll try and cut that out and join a new one in.
Reason for switches failing is probably damp environment. Some of the external legs of the switches were green with oxidation.

    Re: Zanussi Washing Machine ZWF1621

I think it’s worth a try. Especially after what bigchrisoioi said. I’ve used it myself a few times on earlier models and it’s helped. Better by far than standing around for ten or fifteen minutes waiting for the fault to show in normal use. Whatever it says, you may have to “read between the lines” and not expect it to do the diagnostic work for you. Also worth running it two or three times if it doesn’t come up with any fault the first time, especially as I think you said it was an intermittent.

Steve, when you say no fault code can we assume that you actively carried out the diagnostics and are not relying on an error coming up during use?

    Re: how much to charge?

Got a probable bearing job to look at on one of these Wednesday coming. Have tried on a couple in the past but in both cases could not get it to shift. They were well gone though, whereas I know the customer in this case has excellent hearing and a certain familiarity with things mechanical.
Can anyone recommend a suitable puller? Is there something for the puller legs to hold onto?

I think I remember the puffin, I mean penguin, saying you could replace the bearing easily enough on many of these motors.

Can’t see one but genuine’s not too bad at £22.78. Or BSH direct have the grease resistant one for £36.46 retail. (whilst Connect list it at £62.51 trade. If my reading is correct.)
