Would recommend you re-read simple pcb repairs thread. Particularly my last post there on page three.

Ah, OK, thanks Martin. I’ll hang on and hope it was maybe that I was too impatient to allow it to drain fully before programming up a dry.
Didn’t even think to look for the pressure vessel. I assume it’s accessed from the front. Might give them a ring and tell them to keep an eye on fill level meanwhile. (Luckily, if it overfills on this one, the water will go straight out the kitchen door.)
They’ve got a lovely week ahead for drying outside anyway so should get time before the call back 😀 .
Is it poor design that condenser fluff can come down and block the eco ball and filter? Mind you, thought just struck me, they’ve got horses :rolls: .

ParticipantRe: WIXE127 door stuck shut?
Finally went round to it yesterday.
Oh dear.
Switch to any wash programme and it fills for anything from 2 to 7 seconds. Then it stops apparently dead but the time display continues counting down the minutes. (I presume that’s why they “couldn’t get the door open” because the machine was still carrying on with the programme, oblivious to the fact that there was nothing happening.)
Switch to a drain or spin programme and it pumps out for usually 2 seconds.
Meggered everything including motor and heater individually. All in the hundreds of megs.
Had motor off and checked brushes, tacho output, field coils, toc.
Water valves read fine, nothing in filter.
Had fascia board out. All tactile switches feel positive – though I’m sort of thinking I should have brought that away for further testing at home.
Checked main board which is immaculate. No blown looking caps, no burn marks, zilch.
So, yeah, I know, “it’s the board” thanks muchly. But any further info beyond that? Or have I missed something else?
I guess I’ll have a check over these relays to start with.

The pdf Chris posted between p27-p28 gives the E3* series of codes. Mostly p/sw related. So you may have a colourcatcher or suchlike causing an intermittent blockage around the pressure vessel (= air trap?) which IIRC is integral with the sump hose.
If you haven’t already done so, take a good look in that sump hose, especially around the eco-ball. Analogic p/sws have also been known to give trouble.
Incidentally, when you changed the element and it worked a couple of times, that might have been due to you disturbing the blockage.

I’m not sure with the WF0’s but the late machines do this sort of thing after a brush change, if the brushes are not well bedded in. If that is the problem, it will probably cure itself after a few wash cycles.

ParticipantRe: click clunk door lock hotpoint
Hotpoint were doing a relatively good deal on out of guarantee repairs last time I looked so until the board issue is cleared up, it could be worth re-directing customers to them (with appropriate cautions) rather than scrapping newish machines.

Indeed, if Martin would only take his own advice and shell out on a new one, that would create a surge in demand causing a temporary panic at Qualtex. They’d get 50 in, causing a temporary supply overload, and I could get one for two quid.If yours has lasted that long Martin, it has to be a soft one :clown: .
You’d better make it last a bit longer as Qualtex don’t do them ones any more.

You got to get used to them boards. Soon they’ll be the only work going. Get it out, clean away the smoky part, you’ll see the damage ain’t that bad. Solder in a new relay you buy for £1.50 or less, job’s a good’un for £50. Even more in Euros 😆 .

The one with the red spot was on the back of the top (small) oven.
Mike.Been back today.
The above statement appears to have been my imagination 😳 .
Neither stat had any colour spot. (The top one did have red wires going to it which I suppose is a partial vindication. :cough:) It also emerged that the fault occurred following a power cut. (Fan stops > overheat presumably.)
Strangely enough the left rear hob which had also been inoperative and the hob indicator lamp also sprang back into life after replacing the cut-out 😕 .I am now looked upon by this customer as some sort of demi-god 8).
Trouble is they’ll no doubt be ringing me up to ask if I can repair tablets next :rolls: .

If the model is on the “list” customer can get a free module change for no heat fault by calling some number or other.
Here’s what I found with a quick search using the terms, “free +repair +fire” The search engine here will give results if you think laterally 😆 .
