Knew this was a well known one so did a quick search using bosch AND minute in search facility just up there on the left.
Here’s one of tens of threads

Ha Ha, methinks there’s some mistake there. If not I’ll have a dozen.

Thanks, Phidom. That job’s probably lost anyway but I might order in a couple before the price escalates. Joe public can still get it cheaper than Connect’s new trade price here 🙁 so I think this is an early warning.

There’s threads on it here, I’m sure. Have you tried a search? That’s a direct drive I think. No big problem. Unplug and remove the motor coil off the back and put it out of harm’s way. Otherwise it’s a bit like a Zanussi split tub or a WMA job. Most difficult is getting the cabinet screws out. Take a centre punch to start them.

Here’s some interesting reading for you. There are other threads on the subject too.

I think it depends where you live. Not worth it for me stuck on the end of a peninsula surrounded by only 20,000 potential customers within 10 miles. But if you live in a big city or cover half a county then it might be worth it.

I’ve been using that site for price comparisons for some time. 8)
Not yet bought anything off ’em because they are usually more expensive than Connect especially when you want more than one item.
E-bay is often excellent for one-offs, especially common parts.

Another advantage of self employment. You can work when it’s raining (i.e. BHM) and take a day off later in the week when the sun comes out 😀 . (Subject to a reliable forecast).

Well, mind you they can’t send you anything without your e-mail address. 😉

Funny enough had same thing a few months back. Called out to look at smoking Beko. Cannot remember what transpired but I know I had it fixed within an hour and charged a reasonable sum. It was the resistor and I remember doing something with a soldering iron. I also know from my diary I had a second hand module with me and I always carry a 5.6k/7W, so maybe it was one of those?

Mediator says it’s “obsolete” and advises that complete drum is the only way 🙁 . Could be that some supplier or other still has the old part. Picture looks like the ordinary Zanussi type but you can never be sure with these AEGs. Have had to BER one or two myself. You might be able to get a clue from the bearing sizes if you can find them out. Only other way is to dismantle machine, taking standard spider with you and just make a labour charge if it doesn’t fit. Or maybe it’s worth the price to the customer to get a good machine going again.

Nope. Checked that already. As well as rear fan. Good try though. Going to look at price of jockeys.

Went there today, er I mean yesterday. Sorted out dishwasher but can’t figure this dryer. It was noisy but it sounded more like fan or pulley noise. Couldn’t decide which. Didn’t dismantle beyond removing back panel and lower front covers beacause it’s in an alcove on a worktop above the washer with the short mains cable fed through a hole in the worktop to plug beneath. 😡
Maybe I’ll take a saw if/when I go back.
All this in a holiday bungalow which is fitted out so posh there’s not a speck of dust anywhere (except in and around the dryer 😆 ). Must be about £700 a week to stay there. The cleaner told me she’s been told she must leave all the lights on all the time whether or not people are in.
Don’t think I’m going to pull out all the stops for them “snobby geits” 😆 .

ParticipantRe: Zanussi ZWD1480W absolutely DEAD.
Well, looks like it must be board (= probably BER). I tested everything for correct readings and all was Ok and no low insulation either. I also dismantled the 24 pole main switch and it looks perfect. Another thing I tried was unplugging the blue loom from fascia thus disconnecting it from main board. I thought it might light up and give me an E90 but no luck.
Boards are less than I’d thought 69/42 trade but still don’t fancy that risk. The customer is not too pressed so I’m casting around for a s/h module to try in. If I found one from a similar model could I reconfigure it?
