Had a Zanussi ZWF ball little while ago had popped up into the tub and making a hell of a noise against the turning drum.

So what happened with that one then, Jim?

has always bothered me though that both these companies dont ask what the fault symtoms are on faulty boards…I think that’s fair enough. It shows they are testing them before repairing. If they didn’t do it that way, there might be two faults and you had only found one, thus you’d get a board back with one fault still on it. Tony told me they test them after repair too, on an actual machine. Presumably it’s set up as a rig to represent many different models.
Maybe WTA could get factory visits to these places?

I would connect my 4.5v test lamp (w incandescent bulb) across the terminals coming from the IJ to the module and see if it flashes rapidly with the water turned down to low flow. That would tell you if all was OK with the thing.

Oh, not seen one of those before! Always something new to learn in this game. Does this part contain the reed switch only or the impellor/magnet assy too? If switch only, and impellor is in metering tank, could be it needs new metering tank? Or could be that new part is faulty???

Sorry, not done many. Sure it’s intuitive, plastic clips etc., maybe the odd screw.

ParticipantRe: QER.BIZ
Have only used them for washer boards for which they were OK. They’ve been going long enough; they must know what they’re doing.
I would say you should be entitled to expect your money back on the ones that did not work but which worked with new boards.

Could be the on/off tactile switch playing up on fascia board. Solder in a new tactile switch if you have one or desolder one of the unused option switches and use that if pressed for time.

Must be a different machine, probably Indesit with motorised selector, and she’s just reading the model no. off a book for her daughter’s machine.

Hey, watch it, you!

It’s all very well having a long list of suppliers in various parts of the country but no-one seriously has the time to consult them all for every part required and then there’s the variation in carriage costs to factor in and whether a carriage free threshold can be reached. That last factor is why Connect still get the majority of my large saddle-bag refill orders.
Google “shopping” is your friend in all this. One search gets you a good overview of the current best deal available to all. Then you can quickly compare it with two or three of your preferred wholesalers open and logged in in adjoining tabs. If you’re looking for a fan element or a bearing, don’t forget to check out ebay, especially, “spares4appliances” = Masterpart retail site – sometimes cheaper than trade as we know. Qualtex also have an ebay site IIRC, though I can’t recall its name.

I had an older Zanussi (no digital display) stop mysteriously mid cycle last week with no flashing lights and it turned out to have brushes down. It was in an outhouse and I suspect the dampness (it was wet here last week) contributed to some sort of partial continuity between worn brush end and commutator leading to the odd behaviour.
Two years old is not too soon to have brushes fail under ultra heavy use. I’d have interrogated customer about that on the phone before going.
In your situation I would explain to customer that because of the distance involved and unusual nature of fault I would have to charge a call out fee or they would have to wait until I was going that way for a second job which could be, for example, up to 2 weeks. You might lose one job but you would not risk losing an hour of your time and considerable fuel expenditure for no return.
Oh and another thought, ask them for an email address and send them information to enable them to obtain a last recorded error code ๐ if they’re not too technophobic.

Remember that the check water light may come on if there is a drain problemRe: Bosch d/w sgs55c02gb/01 check water light

Just to let you all know put new float chamber on and problem solved and cleaned hose from there to sump as a precaution as it was slightly gunked up. Many thanks for all your replies though they were greatly appreciated
Couple of things there to be thinking about. Seems to me that if the machine either is not or “thinks” it is not fully drained, then it will not start to fill. The red float thingummyjig in the fill matrix, or its attendant microswitch or something around that area could be sticking even if it looks all clean.
