    Have taken a small fee for my efforts but must admit the idea of the fixed price brigade hadn’t crossed my mind. Would mean I’d have to replace the heater relay on board as I had to destroy it to be able to see the transformer details printed behind it. Wouldn’t they just BER it and charge him a reduced fee?
    Already rang him last night with the bad news and he was poised for a trip to Currys.

    @chippo
    I did find one board very similar via Google @ ~£80 but was different part number.http://www.apart4u.co.uk/tumble-drier-pcb-control-board-whirlpool-opn-481221478645.html (That part no. is £160 trade at Connect incidentally :rolls: .) Maybe I could take out the main board from that one? How would I ever know?

    @Tom
    . If you’ve had several then the black mark I gave Whirlpool was way too small.

    Martin, as a novice plumber I can say with at least 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} certainty that turning the wick down won’t change the pressure.

    Re: Bosch SRS43C22GB/04 – Check Water light

    You could try opening the door after 5 secs of draining (before elctronics has time to find a problem) filling it with a kettle and then seeing if anything else works. If it turns out to be a filling problem it’ll be worth scrutinising the board.

    Water valve coil down?, heater element?…….. timer? (EMW).

    There’s a seller on ebay at the moment called skylab40. He’s got quite a few LG pcbs he’s selling. Looks like one of our trade retiring and selling off unused stock.

    ? Stab in the dark – maybe fan has internal self-resetting toc in windings and is overheating for some reason then has reset by the time you test it?

    Re: Siemens SE25M570GB not heating up – guidance sought plea

    You could quite easily repair the circuit board, preferably by sourcing and fitting a new relay or get any competent local electronics person to do it for you.

    Re: ELECTROLUX EW1000I

    Common fault with these timers. You need number off timer label (e.g. 514296 is a common one) Then you can ring EMW and get them to send you one on a use or return (small charge) basis.

    Searched for Bosch drying stops – TTE’s forum only http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/forumsphpbb3/search.php
    It ignored Bosch of course but there looks like some info in there.

    in reply to: Miele W970 Bearing Change #367349

    Re: Miele W970 Bearing Change

    How difficult depends on how experienced you are with such things, obviously! If you can’t get a better quote from a local independent (I assume Miele are the people you asked?) and you feel up to having a crack at it (not much to lose if it’s £400 + otherwise) then the best route is to first get the old parts out to find out what they are. You can get very decent bearings for very little money if you know what the sizes are. The bearing / shaft seal could be (though not necessarily) tricky to source unless Miele sell it separately. If the quote includes a new inner drum, then it sounds more realistic.

    in reply to: Are Vacuum Cleaner Repairs worthwhile? #367260

    Re: Are Vacuum Cleaner Repairs worthwhile?

    I wear a dust mask when doing tumble dryers. Wouldn’t touch a vac any more unless I got really desperate. I usually take a shower and change clothes after any t/dryer repair involving anything more than stats or element. Just feels like there’s a thin layer of dust covering my skin. Might just be psychological.
