Yeah, I did a search after posting and found 19 matches for “laminated”.
    There is much to learn!

If Qualtex can make an error like that and get away with it for three years I think my tinkerings aren’t likely to be too much of a danger to the public.

    Tony,
It’s all very well for you guys in heavily populated areas to not worry too much about parts prices. Some of us have to make the most of every job that comes in. Besides, it makes life more interesting using your brain instead of just doing everything according to the Haynes manual.

Good point, Bryan. Guess I’ll have to get out my hot air gun and thermocouple and test a few times. Should be fun. If I ever get round to doing it I’ll post up the result but at the moment I’ve got a month’s worth of new kits in stock so it’s not looking urgent.

“1701583” over on”Trade Spares” also contains useful ideas for re-setting tripped TOC’s.

Jack up front feet a bit?
Or jack down rear ones – does this one have the red plastic 8mm thingy at the front for rear leg adjustment?

    Re: 1701583

Just thought I’d try this and it worked:
1.Wipe surface of tripped bi-metal with isopropyl alcohol to get rid of dust/grease.
    2. Cut a small strip of double sided sticky foam tape as sold everywhere (and has many uses).
    3. Use tweezers to apply to bimetal and make sure it’s well stuck.
4.Hold edges of tape in tweezers and pull away sharply thus applying pull to centre of disc.
    Peel away excess tape.
Tweezers will be in my toolbag from now on.

Machine drains on any programme, unusally it does this with the door open, close door, it then moves to fill, sounds like valve is energised but not fillinng.

(FPS is the obvious, isn’t it.
    However, if..)

Impossible to get out without ripping out the plinth which I am definately not going to do..

then you need to dream up a way of drying it out without extracting it. ❓
Think I’d just tell the customer I don’t mind doing kitchen demolition work at the appropriate rate. 😆

Seem to remember a lot of New Wave machines going dead when the pump got blocked or went o/c. (But could be just my poor memory?).Anyway presumably this is a Candy/Hoover?Presume water valve solenoids were checked.

    Milk float. 😆
I’ve considerd an electrically assisted bike but it seems to me I’d just be carting around a heavy battery and a motor for the sake of a little help up hills. Then there’s the inconvenience of re-charging.
I rarely carry more than 10kg because I’ve learned to have a good guess at what I’m going to need. The trade tech enq forum is a great help with that! 😀 Plus of course long-winded interrogation of customers over the phone. They ask “Do you have a call-out charge?” I answer “What machine do you have, what’s it doing wrong and where do you live?”
They understand that I’m interested in dealing with their problem as much as making money and they’re on the hook then. 8)

    Oh, I see.
Hmm. Don’t really need it yet. Get about one non-payer per year at most. 🙂 Lot of people give me a fiver more than I ask for. 🙂 (Probably they think I ride the bike out of poverty). 😆

I do all my work by bicycle. 😯
I think every area should have its own racetrack so the testosterone fuelled young and not so young who blight our lives not only with danger but with noise and fumes could go somewhere safe to let off their agression. This would be balanced by much heavier penalties for speeding or driving in any way which endangers other road users or creates excessive noise and pollution.

May be customer is comparing dryer performance to that of a seperate dryer being not in the habit of using a combo. ❓ Maybe putting in full load ❓
