Maybe they could get away with just going round changing the lids for stronger ones 😆 .

If it has those plastic convoluted hoses from the inlet to dispenser, the ones with v joints, check for leakage from there. They seem to leak for fun and also get abraded by the rough edge of the plastic condenser housing a few mm away. Resulting in a drip or a stream onto motor.

ParticipantRe: Neff /Bosch oven hinge problems
The B1430 that I’m having problems with at the moment has a not very firmly closing door. About a year ago the customer reported cakes not getting fully cooked on a regular basis. I did a search on here and found much contradictory advice on whether or not new hinges might help. So I let it stew for a bit and the customer did not call again. When she called me for a different appliance recently, she told me that she had solved it by :study: reading the instruction book. In there it told her how not to block rear vents by putting trays on shelf no. 2.

This used to annoy me too. Till I realised that some would be putting their employment at risk if they shared info. openly.

Unfortunately it doesn’t. Cheapest way I’ve found to get a pump with a toc is the Plaset WMA pump, but it won’t fit everything.
Also, it’s easy to get fooled by pictures, and even when you have the pump in your hand, because often an offset terminal or a little moulding change to accomodate a toc are present but when you lever off the plastic cover there’s none there 🙁 .
Where possible I take the old coil from the old pump and fit it to a new one but there are several different coils. And then they change the barrel design so you can’t swap them.

Hmm. Could explain how sometimes I test an element when it arrives from wholesalers and it’s 20M. Test again day before going out with it, it’s 10M.
Keep it warm overnight, test again in the morning, 1.5M. Phone customer, tell ’em job’s off till I get another element! 😆

ParticipantRe: Impatient customer
My phone has a switch on the side to switch the ringer off. I switch it off before going to bed and don’t switch it on until I’ve done with breakfast. I have a little card which says “ringer off” so I can see in case I forget to switch it on. Caller ID thingy broke about a month ago, so I don’t risk picking it up much now at all. 60-70{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} leave a message anyway and those that don’t usually call again within a couple of days. Reluctance to leave a message is the first sign that they’re the new punter / suspicious types. 😆

Thanks Paul. Will be pulling it out and getting in the back this time so I can see properly what’s going on.

Overfill position on some (possibly most) p/switches doesn’t give an audible click, and it’s not far past the high level. So easy to activate it unintentionally when you blow into it.

Did one of these a while back. Although might have been p1253. It had a toc.

😕 Is it on the output side of the circulation pump? I imagine it would sense that there is sufficient water pressure and be off (open) until the pressure closes it.
The apparent thickness of the wire suggests it will be directly in circuit with the heater.

Thanks for the reply, Brains. Hmm. I did suspect something like that might be going on. But the sort of current put out by my megger which runs off a 9v PP3? I can’t imagine it could damage anything!
Anyway, going back Weds. Will get another element to take with me. Will post up the outcome.

ParticipantRe: partscenter
Just received a Whirlpool stat I ordered from Mytub, a retail site that came up on Google when I entered the part number. It was half the price of getting it from Connect or Mpt and it has arrived next day, although £5.99 carriage (DHL).
The delivery note comes from, “Parts Center, a Wolsley company, Leamington Spa. Queries to: Burnley Washvac, Ripon”
Looked at partscenter.co.uk (can’t they spell English?) and find that last year they got some sort of deal with Plumb Centre whereby Plumb centres (there’s one down the road from me) are now acting as trade counters for them. Hmm. Looks like they may be getting out of appliances and flogging off their remaining stock cheap. Don’t seem to have much left though. Pity.
