I suppose this is the main question, Is Siemens the same quality as Bosch?
To me Bosch is a known product where Siemens isn’t, but if the difference is the badge and the feature set then I would recommend Miele without question.Bosch and Siemens are generally the same appliance, components inside are identically in most machines, the top spec machines benefit from extra sound proofing.
There isn`t anything major wrong with Siemens m/c other than a cheaper Bosch is just as good/bad.
BSH in Spain took over the Spanish Balay brand, they now have 7 factories in Spain and all there hobs, fridges, come from Santander and Pamplona.
In 2007 there Spaniah head office in Zaragoza still had Balay all over it with no obvious signage of Bosch.
BSH Interservicio being the group name, which also includes Lynx, Superser and Ufesa.
Here is the web portal for engineers and clients.

In Spain there a pretty crap company to work for, top end clients in Marbella with million Euro villas are kept waiting weeks for a repair.
I haven`t worked in Australia yet, but i wouldn`t touch a Siemens over a Miele.
Far more proffessional and they keep there good name over profits.

If independant how can they afford to turn down work?
Simple.
They don`t get paid for carrying out work not covered by the guarantee.
Its not Electrolux responsibility to swallow the costs involved in repairing machines customer are too stupid to look after.
Most ServiceForce agents either walk away or invoice with lies.

Part P doesn`t cover these
4. What types of electrical work does Part P NOT cover? The approved document for Part P from the office of the deputy prime minister (ODPM)
lists the following examples of electrical work that IS allowed without notification, and
thus is NOT applicable/covered by Part P:It should be assumed that all work outside of that listed below should be notified
through Part P (competent Persons scheme OR local buildings control office).Work consisting of:
> Replacing any electrical fitting including socket-outlets, control switches and ceiling
roses.
> Replacing the cable for a single circuit only, where damaged, for example, by fire,
rodent or impact (a)
> Re-fixing or replacing the enclosures of existing installation components (b)
> Providing mechanical protection to existing fixed installations (c).lee8

I came accross once a Hotpoint 95 with the pecker mech on top of the belt attached too the motor once.
Someone had cable tied around 15 ties from the counterweight accross to the mechanism arm instead of replacing the arm itself. :rolls:
That m/c also had a the white dial fitted onto the Brown facia.
The women stated she didn`t used the regular guy now as he`d retired.

Martin wrote: The answer is that there’s not any difference as they suffered just as badly. The conclusion there being that water level doesn’t matter a jot, it still happens.:rolls:
That myth was circulated by people not noing much. :rolls:
The smell is due to a cold damp region, spreading around more due to non bleach containing products.
I had to laugh at the thought of someone actively stripping the drum apart and cleaning it out. No need to do that in the trade mate, :

ParticipantRe: Smelly Washer?
Some experts back in one of the Bosch factories have had good succes with it.
Put appliance on a normal 40 degree wash, empty, once m/c has filled, pour a capful through soap dispensor.
It came about after a client reported black marks onto there cloths.
The marks looked like the items had been dragged through coal dust, but they wouldn`t wash off.
The appliance also had a damp musty smell and the client only used cool washes with non bio powders.
They did 2 washes with milton fluid, it removed the smell, the cloths had to be binned and they then did regular maintenance washes with a biological product on 90 wash with either whites ok with that or empty.

ParticipantRe: motor temperatures
Just to put a spanner in the works.
Current Reg`s stipulate that certain safety checks should be made to all appliances before and after any electrical work is carried out.
These include the installation and the appliance.
The appliance tests will test the insulation of the componants within the appliance as ensure they are within safe standards.
Motor temp TOC are accurate to lots of zero`s, so no concerns there.
Although a few “mates” around do tend to bypass the TOC to get the perfectly good motor to work. 😥
It`s amazing though how many motors fail and require repplacing when all you went for was a door seal replacement. 😆

ParticipantRe: Smelly Washer?
I assumed the “guessing” meant not on all makes and models.
As you maybe unaware there are various different methods of removal.
I also missed you were actually agreeing with me in all your responses. 😆
It helps to explain maintenance wash procedure as per manufacturers instructions and since they generally advise the procedure is to be carried out every few months or when a smell is noticed, then you can advise that since they haven`t done that, then your advice will help, but not in all circumstances as the amount of build up would be due to there failing to adhere to those instructions.
£35.00 callout for above advise.Or £150.00 to remove drum and clean, on the understanding that the smell will return and the machine performance could be affected and additional cost could be involved.
Now I`m off to kwik Fit for some new tyres, I hope they don`t dismantle the clutch and clean it. :rolls:
