SpectatorRe: samsung RL34LGMG no cold air in fridge
From what you’ve said the channels would definately be my bet.
Best thing to do is get yourself a steamer rather than using a hairdrier. It’s much quicker, allows you to hit directly to a specific spot for clearing drain holes etc and allows you to also test the channels by blowing steam through them and checking it comes out the other side. I used to use a hairdrier and it took about 10 times longer to do the same job.

SpectatorRe: samsung RL34LGMG no cold air in fridge
Was searching through my phone for an example of what I meant. This is what I’m talking about, the channel behind the evaporator and as you can see from the photo, it’s choked with ice.

You don’t just have one channel though, you have one at the top and one further down behind the evaporator. If the one behind the evaporator is blocked, when the door is closed the air can’t be displaced so it never circulates cold into the fridge or hot out of it. With the door open, you allow the air to be displaced and would then get cold air coming up assuming the damper is open

This would normally indicate the channel to the fridge behind the evaporator is blocked, so the hot air in the fridge can’t be displaced. Did you pull out the evaporator and check behind it?

SpectatorRe: Repair and Assure?
Another bit of digging and I’ve found out some of their copy on the website is ripped from other sites and worst of all, their testimonials are ripped from another site as well. 😯

SpectatorRe: Qualtex Account Closure
Just found out our account was cancelled as well, without any notification. Called them and was basically told that the account was closed and this was automatically happening for any account as soon as it drops below £100 before vat per week.
We don’t use Qualtex a lot, mostly when we do it’s larger orders to topup van stock.
Honestly couldn’t care less that they cut the account, just think it’s strange the way they did it. Surely it would have made more sense to notify people of the minimum spend and and give them a chance to meet it or lose the account.

SpectatorRe: Purchasing a new Washing Machine
You mention you’ve had a Bosch that leaked from the seal and rusted, and you’ve had a Samsung that leaked from the seal and rusted. No offence but it sounds like the way you’re using the machine that’s causing these problems and by the rust this would imply you are continuing to use it after it’s started leaking.
Any machine you get could leak from the seal if you tear it or damage it by overloading etc, and using it when it’s leaking is going to rust any machine as well. Load/unload the machine correctly and make sure you don’t overload it, if a seal tears get it fixed and you shouldn’t have these problems.
If you keep discounting entire brands just because a single appliance you had caused a problem you are very quickly going to have nowhere left to go, especially when you seem to have the same problem across multiple brands.

SpectatorRe: Samsung RS21 temperature rising after repair
What was the original fault that caused you to order/fit parts?
If you open both doors, is the section in the middle of the fridge and freezer hot to the touch?

It’s definitely there. Page 30 of the English manual shows the light and explains the meaning. 🙂

you dont want to stick a new pcb in for dodgy motor to take it out

You’re not going to get a new motor fitted just “in case” to save a third party company blowing a pcb when they fit it.

timdowning wrote:I’m guessing here. Could it mean its advising to do the drum clean cycle?
This is exactly what it is. When it lights up, it’s advising to carry out a drum clean using the “Eco Drum Clean” option on the dial. If you don’t carry one out, the light will go off but will reappear after 2 washes.

There are some supply issues with the part at present, no idea why Connect have marked it as obsolete though as it’s definitely not.

Like I said previously though, worse case you refuse to take on jobs like this and no doubt it’s going to be a very small percentage of overall repair. I see the potential for problems, I just don’t see it as being a showstopper for my business.
Let’s just hope the ones released in the future are more secure, I honestly believe that will be the case but I think it will take time.

SpectatorRe: Samsung DV80F5E5HGW/EU error code
Should also mention, for your DE error check the door as the pin can snap off if they have been slamming it shut. The pin is a moulded part of the door so can’t be replaced on it’s own.

It’s the same fan for the 70, 80 + 90.
