    Re: electrical safety testing ?

Only qualified Part P sparkies are required to follow the regulations and are qualified as such to notify and inform customers

We have no legal requirement to inform or advise the customer however its good practice and could save someone’s life if you did find a problem and notified them.

Our sole concern is the appliance and our safety, when you test your testing to make sure its safe for you to work on the machine on that supply.

Obviously if your employed or contract to another company your required to follow there procedure but that’s to satisfy their requirements not the law.

    Re: sickness

Take it easy mate, remember its just a job, its not worth getting ill over, family and health come first, everything else is irrelevant.

Iv always thought a manager going to your home was harassment, HP do it as well. It never happened to me but TBH unless it was pre arranged I’d refuse the meeting and request a formal notification of why the meeting is required. in fact I would meet them out and not in my house.

It’s a piss take, id call them and request if a meeting is required have it on neutral ground with a 3rd person present perhaps another engineer or union rep to make sure everything is witnessed.

Re: Hotpoint RFA52 Fridge Part Freezing

The back wall is meant to freeze as its a wet wall fridge. It will go from a state of frozen to thawed a few times a day depending on door openings.

If your getting water in or under the salad draws the gutter drain hole at the back is blocked and needs cleaning.

When the water does settle at the bottom it can freeze as it does get down to around 0 at times down that low.

It’s sounds like the board it continually telling the dispenser to open causing the buzzing.

If lights 1 to 4 are lit one being the bottom door lock light that’s F15 – a fault with the drier element, posable open or short circuit or earth leakage problem

Check the connections on the element a and test it with meter for continuity and earth leakage, if element fine posable board problems.

I did not say don’t have it checked, what I said was Iv seen it a few times before.

Get an engineer out and have it checked but id expect they won’t find anything.

They have also recently added a high temp silicone to the drier box around NTC to stop hot air getting passed it help prevent the F13 so this may also be smelling.

Id also add that I have found some people seem to be more sensitive to it than other as on the ones I went to for it although I could smell it i was not affected by it or found it anywhere near as bad as the customer did.
One one the lady could not even enter the kitchen where as I could notice it but its did not bother me.

As I said your concerned get them out,, ask them to change the seal if they can’t find anything as Iv always believed this was the main source of it.

    Re: Indesit washer/dryer 6125-w ,

Tbh I have seen this a few times its quite common. The door seal and tank absolutely stinks when its on a dry sometimes on a new machine. One woman said it made her physically sick and made here eyes sting.

If you feel its not safe I would get an engineer to check it but id bet they won’t find a problem, It normally goes after a few uses.

1st thing is YES do the 90 wash. This there for a reason to relax the seal and help to settle everything in. In fact do a couple as it help absorb the smell as well.

Then I’d stick it on a long dry program with the windows open and let it burn off all the chemicals from the plastic tank and seal.

It should fade away after a few uses, It’s just the chemicals from the manufacturing process and when the tank and seal heat up its released into the air.

It’s seems to be getting more common tbh. Not sure if its the type of rubber now used in the seals or the plastic in the tank.

Worst case if you do call them get them to swap the seal it can help.

    Re: Beko Employed Engineers?

Thanks for that, ill pass it on to lets just say former workmates ;).

Ill tell you something making 50k is impossible in my part of the country, I’m quite happy to keep turnover below the VAT threshold these says so I don’t have to register, I ran an electrical business for 6 years turning over about 300k a year and its was a bloody nightmare with constant VAT,PAYE and all the other crap, 3 weeks Holliday in 6 years, went through large numbers of staff who just did not care, I spent a fortune on each one training then after 6 months you realise everything the promises was crap.

People say employers are bad, I had staff stealing stock, taking mates on job with them, not tuning up, lying about customers being out, it was nothing short of hell at times.

I’m the end It nearly destroyed me and nearly lost everything, I chucked it all in and took an employed job for a bit.

Tbh best few years I had as It was not my problem, kept my head down and just did was was required. Money was shite but I had a life.

Then I ended up self employed again, not making the same mistakes this time.

I can say from experience there is a hell of a lot to be said for 5 weeks Holliday and sick pay when employed.

I believe on the indesit’s it is the inner drum seem going and if I’m honest I was taking to some of the lads last week about it. Of 5 of them they never even seen it. I did see one few years back my self but its not as bad as the media make out from what they are saying and trust me they would tell me if it was bad. in fact the deaths from cookers, fire risk driers and fridges from the Beko don’t seem to be getting half the attention that the exploding tanks get and the italians are not happy about that fact. Rather Odd that considering people have died.

The reason I’m convinced the plastic is also more brittle and more likely to shatter is I seen quite a few WM and WMA inner drums tear open from coin damage and jam against the plastic tanks but never have I had one go through or shatter. Of the spider snapped Iv seen it cut into the outer tank but never completely destroy its self.
