    Re: Hotpoint larder fridge RLA81

It could be low on gas as i have seen this issue with system problems.

What happens is when its low on gas only the top of the evaporator gets cold and there is not enough in the system for it to reach down to where the stat capillary is located at the bottom of the evaporator to tell it to shut down, what happens then is it runs continually and the top half that does chill freezes and the fridge temp plummets to freezing

Feel how hot the compressor is at the back, its the black thing that looks like a pot, can you hear it all the time ?

Tbh Indesit were fine with me, its what you make it as with any company, I went to work and did my best and never had problems, most days i was home by 4, more often than not 3:30, the 6pm finishes were very few and far between.

as has been said in another thread there are far more problematic employees than employers, the problems I saw with some guys was just madness and they still would not sack them, rude to customers, not fitting parts and leaving them with customers, I had one guy turn up to change a fridge door and just left it with the customer, walked into the kitchen and just left it there in its box, I had to go back and fit it.

I believe Service Force,BHS & Hoover are a lot worse than Indesit, A lot of guys were coming on board to Indesit from those over the last few years.

Yes the new systems takes into account everything including lunch and sorting out your stock, lunch is not paid as with most companies and they are putting in an 30 minute gap at lunch time and they are dropping 15 minute for stock I believe so its going to be 7:15 of work and traveling ,

    Re: Approved Electrical Connections

Weird this only last week I turned up to pull out a Bi dishwasher to fit a new replacement under insurance , pulled the first plinth off and found on the floor rite next to the machine 2.5mm TE crimped with blue crimps to the cable from the old machine, No tape or protective cover just the 3 wires separated and crimped. after pulling out the machine this went to a single plat with a hole in the middle, Was only put in 2 years ago.

I was not impressed and showed the customer, hell it was on the floor any spilt water could have been a major safety issue, he got on the blower to the original spark and got him back, I popped off to other jobs and swung back in later, he was just leaving as I arrived. Now I am qualified but to 16th not 17th and got out that industry years ago but still help a few out now and then., I and mentioned it to him, I made it clear it may be legal its not bloody good to do with no protection and on the floor .

All he said was well it was on an RCD so no real problem.

    Certainly wont recommend that bloke.

    Re: Hotpoint Bearings

That is the problem bit as you say as your going to aim to be ahead of time when ever posable then you out a call, they will loose the travel time but the jobs you walk in and out of you may be an hour up but if they go down that route and try and take your made up time back as well it works both ways, once you have done 7.5 hours you tell them to sod off I’m going home regardless of how many calls you have left as you have done your time.

At the end of the day they can’t do anything about it either as the union will back you all the way, I know the union guy told the lads that nothing has been agreed at the moment, its all in discussion, he did not thing they would even see it this year.

As has been said it think overall most will benefit but some will be hit hard.

As for trackers not policy but a very small number of vans do have them, was an trail.

    Re: Hotpoint Bearings

Was talking to one of the employed lads last week about this as they recently had a meeting and he grilled one of the union reps, Tbh it can’t be any worse that its been when I was there, v2 on 1 slot all the time, the £10 on the 5490 was ok but it would set your day behind if its anything but the perfect job( tons of room and no problems), Bi dishwashers on 1 slot, every condenser drier is basically a rebuild that takes at least 40 minutes most an hour to do properly, and then there is the Wm bearing 1 slot, Iv never been able to do one in under 45 minutes and even that’s a rear one, no travel due to being 2:34 and to close for them to give it. Constant battle to get travel when you are due to it.

From what Iv been heard yes the city lads will suffer but the union does not see anyone ever doing more than 12, but being honest there are a number of guys who are home by 2pm every day so it will level things out, they are also pushing for extra time on every job that has Tb’s and builtins, the job times I was told were not bad but he saod nothing’s been agreed with the union yet, its just in trial in Scotland and Ireland.

If it goes the way it looks like it is the engineers won’t do to bad out of it, in fact it proves how over worked they were before based on what they are paid, its going to hit Indesit hard but they say can’t continue as they are.

Martin wrote:Like Baldick’s “I have a cunning plan…!” for the likes of Indesit giving a full 5 year guarantee on parts they make a killing from labour charges just stuffing in new tubs for their unlucky victims. And unlike the extended time it took their engineers to replace the WMA tub backs years ago claiming around 2 calls per job. These new tubs can be easily done in half the time. So each engineer flying around doing this earns the manufacturer a princely sum each and every day……nice!

I bet there’s a huge storage dump at Peterborough where they are stockpiled then sold on to Wincanton for their scrap value……nice one again!

Agree mostly with all but Still 2 slots though. Only the 1605490 (C00143604) is 1 slot. All new stuff is 2 slots :-()

Am seeing more and more early bearing failure but as has always been said we only see the broken ones.

If its noisy and under 12 months old get them out to change the drum.

    Re: WMT03 service drum/bearings.

If you can move the inner drum an inch the bearings are completely shot.

On a machine that age its likely 35mm, you will need a new spider, as for the rear of they have been in there that long they are not going to want to come out. An experienced engineer will even have problems but it can be done.

Have you checked the brushes as flashing door lock light is often a sign of motor problems/ worn brushes.

You can also fit the new shaft to the welded drum. You have to drill the heads off the welds from the rear side, you don’t drill through just the heads off and the new shaft bolts on just like the other version.

Tbh Hover Candy sound a lot worse than Indesit was when I was there. I’m not saying it was brilliant but tbh I was left to get on with it as long as I sold the odd cleaner and warranty and did my best.

I’d say it a wash pump problem from the sounds of it. Boiling water is normally an indicator or lack of circulation.

    Edit.

4 and 6 are heater problem I believe so the relay on the boar could be sticking on.
