It’s been on the wall for years, and the sad fact is its only the start.
companies started selling cd and DVD from the Channel Islands and Isle of Man avoiding Vat and tax years ago, i remember cd wow upset the whole industry.
The way things are changing with online shopping you will see more and more Manufactures opening there own retail stores like Apple to showcase there products and no matter where people buy them they win.

Does highlight how we ALL should use a plug in RCD and NOT work live when working on machines, from the sounds of this it may have been a hard wired so the plug in RCD may not have been posable but the working live could have saved him.
Iv nearly got caught out on a few occasions when testing, plug in, plug out, plug back in and then about to do something and realise its still on.
Complacency is a killer guys.

It is an odd one this. You would have thought the Bosch would use the same hot rinse with residual heat drying, the only thing I can think of is if the tank was not coated in bitumen to keep the heat in the tank the steam would condensate on the inside of the cold tank.
Edit: thinking about it it could be the other way around, perhaps the tank is more insulated, this would mean it would use less energy in wash as the loss of heat would be reduced and this would mean that tank would not cool as much and the water would not condensate on it causing it to condensate on the entire load rather than the tank.

Worst I had was a few years ago when I was working for the manufacture, turned up to a call 3 days before Xmas, motor failure and I did not have on on the van as I’d uses it the day befor and the return date was showing up as into the new year, I knew i was due a delivery the following day and was able to confirm there was a replacment motor on on it, I said as it was Xmas I’d come back with the Xmas eve and fit it for them, this was in my own time as I was not rebooking the call through the office and was doing them a favor, I completed it booked to motor out and told here I’d see here Xmas eve. 2 hours later I get a call from my manager asking me to explain why I’d booked a motor is not fitted and that the customer has been on the phone screaming demanding its fixes now, this dropped me in all sorts of crap.
Turns out the wife who I was there with phones her husband once I left to explain what was happening and he decided that if he called in and started demanded a same day fix it would be done.
The office agreed that I’d go back on Xmas eve and I did and fitted the motor, the wife was there again and I politely explained her other half caused me real problems and reminded them that I was trying to do them a favour by returning before Xmas I finished and left
Shortly after Xmas I got an message to say I’m not to return to that call in the future, the husband had phoned up and told them he never wanted me back, I’d never met him or spoken to him, his wife was fine and I never had any problems with here.Absolute arsehole of a bloke.

ParticipantRe: why do hotpoint washers take so long to start washing?
There are three seperate things going on, the first is setting the OKO ball, next this model uses a linear pressure switch , It takes time for the pressure to settle down and a true exact reading taken from the switch, and finally next its measuring the absorption rate of the clothing in the drum, feeds a little water in then waits to measure the pressure drop and then calculates load and water quantity needed.
What may seem like a few minutes nothing in reality its setting its self up ready to wash your clothes as best posable.
People do slag the Indesit stuff in they have been getting good reviews from Whitch for wash performance and value for money.Might be cheap Italian tat in some eyes but for the money, load capacity and features they are good value. We all see the ones that fail but Iv also see the same number that don’t.
Like anything if they are looked after, not overloaded and used as per manual they are generally fine. The problems come when it’s on 4 times a day overloaded

ParticipantRe: advice required
You will be fine, if they keep pressing I would ask for proof of what H&S procedures are put in place to help prevent this, what PPE was issued to the driver ,was the PPE issued adequate for the task in hand and could/should other things have been provided.
And the finally did the driver take every opportunity to reduce chances of an accident by looking at the risks and choosing the appropriate PPE that he was issued, was it being used.
At the end of the day its an employers responsibility to ensure the safety of there workforce no matter the location, site owners can be held responsible under certain circumstances but clear negligence must have taken place.
Nice try on there part though.

ParticipantRe: advice required
I’ve done a lot with H&S over the years, this would be classed as a work related injury for his company. It is the drivers responsibility to perform a risk assessment and make the decision if it was safe to walk on the car park, in fact for winter purposes in his line of work its likely this is a very common hazard and he should have been provided with grips to add to his boots to prevent slipping in ice and snow so his company may have failed in there duty of care.
I spent two years as an assessor for a large company and would see this stuff all the time, the part people often just don’t get with a risk assessment is it does not need to be a written piece of paper, we all do them hundreds of times a day. It’s thinking of posable dangers and making a decision to prevent when ever posable but not every accident is preventable and in those situations no one is to blame.
I would send it back with a letter to this affect.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint’s not draining
If its the linear pressure switch model then it won’t drain with out any water in it, Otherwise check the door lock, I have seen these cause a number of really strange problems on the Arcadia electronics, possibly motor as well. The module will not pump or do anything if either motor or door lock is playing up
I had one last week doing something similar, door locked and light was on as it should be but it just would not do anything. After trying everything else tried the interlock
Not seen many on these doing it though 3 is unusual.
