ParticipantRe: Built in appliances compromise your ability to repair
I had one when I was with HP that they had a BI dishwasher, after installation to stop it moving they had used builders foam to hold it, the stuff was behind it and the unit next to it, under the plinths everywhere, all the pipes going to the taps under the sink were buried in in.
When I got the bloke on the phone as his wife was home he just said ” yea I did it to stop it moving” I left him with the choice of getting it out him self or getting it out him self lol.
He was not happy and got stroppy on the phone, I went back a week later when he got it out and it was a hell of a mess. He had to cut the back out of the unit next to it. Still seemed to imply its our fault due to it failing.

Some early connectors only had one set of pins in each one. Considering the whole motor circuit is wired through the door lock it was not up to the job.
I believe now their are 2 sets of pins in each one to provide better contact.
I generally cut the plug off and fit spade connectors and a new lock.

Funny that the reason I was on that forum was I’m having problems with my solar PV shutting down due to high grid voltage. Iv been getting between 254v and 262v in the last few weeks and the inverter shuts down above 256.
Iv had the dno out this week and their allowed 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} over 230 giving 253 max
I Agree with what you say, the fact it takes a number of years and that its not happening to every one would lead you to think a higher grid voltage causing the heater to draw more.
Thought I would post about him as he caused quite a stir in a very short period of time.
I also had a look over his site, it does seem to suggest he has it for Hotpoint especially.

Is common and 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} the board. As for cause slugs are common but if you got no fried friends its likely its just failed.
As for what’s failed not sure on the new 3 phase boards.
Word of warning this boards hold quite a charge and must be left for at least 5 minutes after being turned off.

Is it 3 phase or brushed motor as worn carbons will do this.

Very very common failure

P.S Aldi tabs came out top of the Which? ‘Best Buys’ list recently. 😀
I was talking about the Aldi washing powder and its the 10 or so customers Iv been to who assume their dispenser is faulty and it turns out its the powder.
Others wash through fine.

Hi as Kawatt has stated these type of fault do happen. Its just as possible the socket is the cause not the plug its self.
Its caused by a poor contact in either the plug its self or more likely where the plug pin meets the contact in the socket,
Driers are very high powered and are normally around 2.2kw, a socket is rated at 3kw but they will often cheap sockets will melt out well before that.
Because it was not an overload the fuse would not have blown. Eventually if the wires melted enough to touch either the mcb or RCD would have tripped.
The simple answer is it just happens, moving forward cut the plug off and replaced with a good quality one and have the socket its self replaced with a quality make such as MK.

Iv have heard and by all means this may not be correct but t came from a reliable source that its a problem where as the machine enters to high a spin for the load in it, the OOB logic should have reduced the spin to an safe level for the load but it does not and it goes into the full spin and destroys its self.
Iv also heard its a uk problem only and that it is possibly fixable by a revised program file but that would be down to. Italy to produce not the uk.
The impression I was given is that once its out of production and out of warranty it becomes a service problem to deal with not the factory and they are limited in what they can do.

This week I turned up to a call on a cooker, whilst I was their she mentioned she keeps getting letters from hotpoint about her dishwasher,I had a look and its a fdw20, she said they are trying to sell her insurance, after I mentioned their had been a recall she admitted she never bothered reading the 3 she had just saw hotpoint at the top and binned it. after I mentioned their is quite a big thing going on rite now she popped off to the garage managed to get the latest one back from the bins whilst and sure enough its a recall notice.
Unbelievable.
