Re: Global Warming – Scam Says EU President

    1. We are all breathing in air with 40{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} higher co2 compared with pre- industrial revolution levels, that is easily measurable by taking ice core samples.

    2. co2 is a gas which acts as an insulator.

Does that automatically mean we can expect a rise in temp when we’re talking about a complex system like our planet..? i dunno 😕
I do think its in all our interests to take the destinct possibility very seriously mind you.

It has become a new religion though, very polarized debate , people tend to believe whatever suits their own agenda.
The way i look at it is, even if it turns out to be bollox, with almost 7 Billion people on this planet (& rising fast :rolls: ) its in all our interests to minimize our impact regarding energy use.

Well you’re lucky garn, this year has been my worst EVER 🙁 turnover & profit has quite literally halved.
The speed of the decline has made my head spin to be honest, long standing customers seem to be going down the ‘buy cheap & chuck it out’ route, lost track of the amount of customers i’ve bumped into in the supermarket or wherever who proudly tell me about the Beko or Matsui they replaced their old Hotpoint 95 or WM with :rolls:

Multiply that loss of work from 100’s of customers doing the same thing & i guess the current work load is not suprising.
Classic example last week.. wife of retired vet calls me on Fri morn & leaves a message about her Hoover 8kg dryer, no drum movement.
Recognise her voice, been going to them for about 10 years, called her back at lunchtime.. she informs me she’s been on internet & ordered a new one in the two hours since her call :rolls:

Now, these are in theory your ideal customers, nice middle class retired couple, always recycling etc,etc.. yet seem not at all fussed about throwing a major appliance out for the sake of a poxy 8uf capacitor :rolls:
I did end up doing the job, her daughter needed a larger capacity dryer so at least it will live on for a couple of years.
The general public are more & more viewing major appliances as totally disposable, people who still get things repaired are seen as a bit quaint IMO :rolls:
ANYWAY, roll on the VAT increase on 1st Jan, might make a little difference, if not, i recon i’ll be movin on before ‘er indoors divorces me for being such a sh*t provider of funds to support her decadent lifestyle 😆

I’m finding i get one good week followed by two dead ones in a continuous cycle 😯 seriously hoping i can hold out for better times ahead but i’ve got to say i’m actually pretty worried about the future now.. savings will only last for so long 🙁
If i’m looking at the same level of work this time next year i really dont see me doing this in 2011 😥

Re: Bush washing machines advertised in Argos

Well lee, it must be said, if the likes of BSH & Electrolux continue to insist on producing machines with sealed drums that last 2 or 3 summers, & PCB’s that are lucky to even last that long, then even i would’nt blame people who simply buy the cheapest thing available next time 🙁

Import Turkish/Chinese (?) tat, give it a Germanic badge & please chavvy Argos punters who think they’re getting a cut price Bosch :rolls:
(Mind you, seeing BSH’s latest sealed drum offerings, maybe the Haus will prove the better machine 😯 )

At least Argos has fairly hiked the prices of ‘higher end’ machines compared to last year.. their cheapest 6kg 1200 Zanussi is 355 squid delivered.. & their cheapest Bosch 6kg is 385.
I destinctly remember them selling a 6kg Zanussi for 229 a couple of years ago.
If everyone starts pricing the ‘better’ brands at this sort of level that can only help the repair business IMO.

Sadly it had a sealed drum. :rolls: 😥

And probably DID have a water seal fitted 😯 rather ironic i would say & kinda sums up the cost cutting thats going on.
Dont think i’ve ever fitted bearings to a Bosch open plastic drum, though have done a few stainless ones over years.
I would REALLY love to know what it saves on build costs to fit these things instead of a decent drum.. 10 euros ??
During the 90’s, Mercedes-Benz learned how quickly you can loose a hard earned reputation through letting your accounts dept rule over your design & engineering dept, it usually ends up in LOWER profits long term.

Dear, dear, where will it end? :rolls:

More fun & games today with crappy parts & i’m getting SERIOUSLY fed up with it 🙁 8uf cap fitted to a Zan condens dryer 9 weeks ago.. failed with a big carbuncle sprouting from the side :rolls:
That was this morning, then last job of day, fitting dual circ radiant ring to an old dears cooker. Threw trip the moment it was switched on, popped off earth wire to see if it would clear any possible dampness & left said ring running at full bore for 5 mins.. volts measured ‘tween cooker body & earthwire after this time.. 230 😯 ..nice.
JUST what you want with a 80 year old punter & her Aluminium handled pans :rolls:
Needless to say i removed it, such a fekkin waste of my time & Diesel though, Masterpart & Homespare PLEASE stop sourcing this sh*t. 👿

Re: Manufacturering plants of white goods.

And getting as crap as everything else year by year :rolls: its ironic that competition is seen as the friend of the buying public, yet it just seems to be forcing manufacturers to arrive at the same conclusion. i.e, most people buy on price & dont seem overly bothered about chucking stuff out very early in its life.

When its a matter of a company surviving or going to the wall, who can blame them for joining all the other pond life in the mass white goods market. 😯

    Phidom wrote:Suspension Peg removal
Machines such as Zanussi and large drum Hotpoints have the suspension dampers held on with plastic pegs. If you push a 13mm ring spanner over the pointed end of the peg it will squeeze in the retaining lug enough for removal without damaging the peg. With the ring spanner in place you can pull out the peg with pliers.

Good wee tip Phidom 😉 tried it on a WMA today while doing a bearing change & it worked a treat. Leaves 2 hands free to yank yer pliers.. much easier 🙂
