As it is your own machine a little ‘improvisation’ of the interlock is a simple option you may wish to consider. 😉

I was VAT registered for 30 years Barry, I understand it perfectly well thank you. Since de-registering (in 2005) I was able to increase my customer base due to lower labour charges. At that time the additional 17.5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} cost of spares, fuel, vehicle servicing etc was easily absorbed by the increased work. Profit margin on spares maintained by passing the slight increase cost onto my customers.

Today the threshold (at £83K) is way above what most sole traders would normally earn. Those bordering on that would be wise indeed to stay beyond the gaze of HMRC. And, as ever, all the while cash in pocket solves many things.

Yes Barry I understand VAT. 😉

I’ve never heard such nonsense, besides registering with Customs & Excise to be VAT registered if you’re well under the threshold would be foolish in the extreme. As for the likes of Repaircare having to process your claim in a different way, that too is a nonsense. You don’t charge them for VAT so they don’t claim it back. In their claims department they just hit the ‘zero rated’ button.

If anything Repaircare would prefer most agents NOT to be VAT registered as they would shell out less of their money each month.

It is so contradictory in someone spending so much money on a machine that, in its manufacture, has used up so much energy to produce yet in its short working life uses up even more of earth’s resources. A machine with a price point so high that only those that can afford a gas guzzling ‘Chelsea Tractor’ shell out on one, and dump it the moment it fails them.

These washing machines that are 4 to 10 times the price of a regular washing machine yet wash no better. The manufacturers go to great lengths to ensure their product gets that all important A+++ rating otherwise those energy burning consumers might just go elsewhere.

Re: Electromechanical stat instead of control board

I’ve just come across this fascinating read. It never surprises me what the public at large get up to in the fervent hope of attaining a compromise, or as we say in the trade ‘a bodge’.

But, we’re here to help, when we can. So, here’s an idea. Buy an old mechanical stat type caravan/boat fridge from eBay OR a large cooler box.

    Re: Bosch inlet hose adrift?

Oh dear! Bad news indeed as that hose is secured on the inside with a holding collar (00067719) and means the drum has to come out to fit it. (Best fit a new dispenser hose too : 00266973)

When I read the title quickly I thought it read “do you have a dead parrot?”

I really must follow Michael Palin’s example and revisit Specsavers once more. 😉

Thought as much! Changing that hose was when the fault started so clearly it’s a water pressure problem after all. Just turn it down a fair bit and status quo will undoubtably resume. 😀

Try turning the flow rate down as Dave suggests. Clearly you have extremely high water pressure which is less than ideal, so reduce the flow rate by 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} and try again.
