    Re: siemens topline washer dryer

At £72 you were ripped off. The part (as Dave mentioned) should have the part number 00496876, if it doesn’t you’ve fitted the wrong part and hence why it doesn’t work.

I can’t help your personal frailties, the fact remains that when a shock absorber fails the ONLY recourse is to replace it. You can patch it up with corn plasters all you like, that’s your choice. We in the trade replace such items within a washing machine when they fail. And I have a duty to recommend the general public heed the advice of a professional and avoid “bodge fixing!”

Re: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers

‘Teardrop’ such an appropriate name don’t you think? Creda/Hotpoint dryers have never figured how much less troublesome a ball race bearing would be. Ball race drum supported dryers don’t collapse and therefore last far longer, but that wouldn’t suit the ‘built to dump’ philosophy of Indesit.

Probably just as well because 100’s of indies are now profiting from fixing them. Long may the recall last, and shed not a teardrop for Whirlpool.

If it’s just the knob you want then they are available both on Amazon and eBay. But generally it’s the drive coupling behind the knob that fails and for that only the complete fascia (00350348) is available.

Ensure your customer is NOT filling the container with salt tablets as it will play up as you describe. ONLY salt granules to be used!

Sounds as though the carcass base has warped and burnt under the oven.

From the information you gave I too suspect the selector switch hence why I pointed it out as requested.

Many of the “older ones” do need configuring and buying modules from wholesalers doesn’t always guarantee the configuration instructions are included. It’s a good thing you’re setting yourself up with a BSH trade account as spares are far cheaper direct from them that rip-off wholesalers. Plus certain tech info is available on-line AND as an account holder you can get wiring diagrams and other tech stuff via their technical department. Go for it groos!
