    Re: Bosch brush beware!

Another top flight, high profile wholesaler very kindly sent me a sample of their 154740 ‘equivalent’ brush set, and again the spade terminal is too small (4mm instead of 5mm). Only 1mm difference that’s true but it means that they simply do not fit and therefore are not suitable.

Whilst I agree (as Simon46 rightly points out) that you have to “squash” the inner brush housing otherwise the brushes will spring out the moment the motor ramps into spin mode, short out against the motor end frame and blow the module up in the process…….

    ……Not a good idea 🙁

I will stick to fitting only genuine ones thank you very much, or until they someone comes up with an alternative that actually fits

Re: zanussi tle1116w – bearings issue

I wonder if you are fitting the correct bearing kit? The left Bearing Kit is part no: 4071306494 and differs from the right Bearing Kit part no: 4071306502.

Both come as a threaded hub unit that simply screws into position against the tub seal, automatically aligning the inner drum into position.

Also, has the drum shaft sustained any damage from the collapsing ball bearings that would cause the new ball race to jam on the shaft?

Ah! I expect that was after one of Daves extended liquid-lunch breaks and he forgot to turn the “Open/Closed” sign on the shop door around as he staggered back :rotfl:

This bloke is up a ladder billposting outside the Roxy Cinema, when a little old lady stands at the foot of his ladder and shouts up to him saying…”Hello!, young man!…..is SUPERMAN coming?????”

The bemused billposter looks down at her and replies…..”No lady, it’s just the paste dripping of the end of my brush!!!!”

Re: Can I vent a cooker hood up a chimney?

Another thought occurs to me after much diliberating on the subject. A cooker hood as Ken and Bob rightly point out only need a short run of vent pipe to clear the air out of the kitchen. BUT it is always recommended to vent horizontally rather than vertically wherever possible and only then over short distances. The reason being is that a cooker hood extracts steam/water vapour and cooking fat and you cannot have yards of vent pipe going straight up a chimney for that reason alone, ‘cos what goes up will invariably come down 🙁

I beg to differ on this, its a great ‘module’ for the site that works well. Dave is constantly adding to it and up-dating 🙂

alexa wrote:Also the numbers to the left in the information panel don’t jump out

But they are at least there should one wish to dial. After all this is a website where all the answers can be found without really needing to phone anyone.

alexa wrote:The three little lines below the numbers in the information panel annoy the shit out of me

It didn’t occur to me ’til you mentioned it, if we ask Ken nicely he may enlarge the numbers and get rid of the dashes 😀

    Correct!

No! but with experience you will realise that any and all of Kens explanations need not only reading carefully, but reading ‘between the lines’ as well, then and only then will the penny drop :martin:

Re: Can I vent a cooker hood up a chimney?

Surely the natural draft/airflow a chimney provides would be ideal for a cooker hood without further assistance from addition fans and hoses?

My only reservation would be not to fully seal off the chimney to facilitate such an installation in case of debris fall, rainwater and the avoidance of damp.

If not, why not and do tell me about it (by PM) if you don’t 😉
