OK so no mice damage. What else? The microswitch (that’s the one on the top not the red lever one) on the fill matrix faulty? The tap not allowing water flow to the valve? The complete pressure chamber (00482936) faulty?……I’m running out of options here….. :rolls:

    No chance of overloading then

With the greatest respect, you have to admit that such a dire mechanical failure, no matter what or how it is loaded, shouldn’t fail so disastrously?

The sarcasm should be directed more forcefully toward the manufacturer rather than the user. Unless they are forced to improve their products for the safety of those that they intend to sell them to. We will be inundated with unfixable products and the repair trade will die.

In that case the circuit to the fill valve or the fill valve itself is faulty (yes I realised you replaced it so the former is the most likely). Any signs of mice activity in there (droppings?) as mice love to chew wires.

Yes the exploding Indesit stories have thinned out a lot since the Bosch fires and now the smouldering Hotpoint dryers. Little mention in the public forums either. Each case gets as far as the local rag and barely beyond but not so much as a peep on public forums.

The only case that I can recall of a member of the public telling us her flat burnt down as a result of her Whirlpool dryer catching fire, years back now. Loads of interest, loads of posts. London Fire & Rescue forensic tests, denials from Whirlpool………. then Zilch…….. “Nothing to see here, everybody back on the bus!”

Bryan summed it up for me sometime last week reminding me that a story broke 2 days earlier, implying old news, history. 😉

Nope, but at least the drain pump is OK and not the issue here. (Reset : Pressing two programme buttons together to reset the programme to zero. As shown in user manual).

That aside your problem is that it will not fill, yes? Well it won’t unless you reset the programme so try that next.

And it drained OK when you pressed the reset buttons did it?

Half way through a wash would suggest it hasn’t emptied? So check pump filter your next move. But beware, if it’s full then all that water on the kitchen floor might ruin your evening!

The two photos appear to show the sump is full of water and that the pressure switch has activated the microswitch. So was it manually filled to achieve that?

    Re: Siemens DW flow meter

I refer to my earlier post. The model in question has the flow meter as part of the fill matrix. The reed switch clips into that matrix and can be a regular component that fails.

It’s tricky with these Smeg jobs to be certain the system is blockage free or that the fan sticks on occasion. Outside of that the most obvious is customer turning it off before cool down. (How can you really be sure they or a member of their family hasn’t switched it off?)And sometimes the heating element can distort and lay against the limiter almost touching it.

The selector switches have visible contacts, if they’re charred and burnt then that’s a big giveaway.

Wiring diagram? More chance of winning the lottery without a ticket. 🙁

Flowmeter in the fill matrix. With a reed switch that often goes dickie.
