They do seem to have a very reasonable line in stock by the looks of it π

Ken,
Do please stick it on the agenda for Friday as Dave suggests.
This I believe is a major issue that could help all of us so very much to get along much more easily with the massive product range out there. If only the likes of Merloni (or should we call them Indesit now?) would realise this, we might even start to sell and recommend their products again? Whether they are crap or not, they still hold the major shareholding to what is OUR future after all π
Agora? Don’t know who they are, but give me some of that as well if it’ll help earn me a crust 8)

Are we not chasing our own tails here on this one?
You may recall I brought this subject up last September and comments like “in breach of copywrite” were cited as the main stumbling block π

Maggie,
Its still Friday so he may turn up and sort is for you π .
Can I ask though, when he did the repair last week, did he give you a written receipt with his business name on it?

ParticipantRe: UK Whitegoods Meeting No.4 – Feb 2005
I propose Mr Kevin Heath to chair the meeting?…any objections???…………………right agreed π
The agenda as yet I believe is not set in stone, though a tablet is being prepaired and a stonemason is on standby. Ken I know has a good number of interesting items lined up for the Friday meet along with a number of presentations. And a reminder that the Saturday gathering is reserved for ‘Repairers only!'(that alone is worth sticking your head round the door π )
I’m not sure if there are any rooms still available for an overnight stay? so best check with Dave Conway if you intend to come along for both days?
See you there I hope!

You may be right Alex, however whilst Richard was last heard of (on UKW that is) on Nov 30th. He only posts on average just one post every month or so, but R600a will know where he is I guess π

I’m not surprised as there are a good number of areas that the public come back to tell us so. I cannot believe Brighton/Southampton/Portsmouth/Bournemouth, in fact all along the central south coast are not covered by any UKW repairer π
Many other similar examples show gaping holes in our ‘Network’. So from that I think if you pm me those dead area’s Ken, I at least can be on the lookout for ‘someone to cover’ so to speak.

ParticipantRe: JUST RAMBLING ON
Richard,
All modern whitegoods rely on an alternating currect (AC) to make them work, negative and positive, forever changing at 50 times a second. That will never change, nor will the needs of the public change, in that they will always demand a machine to do their dirty work.
Commercialism in the 21st century can fill that demand, technology will always provide them with something better and in many cases cheaper than ever before. Cheap, cost effective goods that fulfill their needs and when these products eventually fail, will simply be thrown away and replaced.
Now if I may draw the parallel here, these are the negative facts that make the industry and maintain its growth but do little to support us, the repairers…(which is where you are coming from after all).
The positive is simply that, unlike a duff TV and video, cannot be easily disconnected and replaced. They are and always will be, too big to simply throw away, too hard for the average man to unplug and chuck in the bin. Councils impose restrictions on their disposal for a start, a situation that will get even more restrictive thanks to European Legislation taking place as I type. Therefore repairing and maintaining the viable option, especially as the public will be demanding more reliabilty built in anyway as the future progresses year after year.
There will always be a demand and always a need for someone to fix it when it fails.
RS wrote:Anyway enough rambling for now I leave it all in your capable hands
We need experienced people like you to help this business forward based on your past experience, and I feel sure you can do another positive thing for us by lending us your hands for our future π

Participantkwatt wrote:In the end we’re all mercenary and the highest bidder gets the best attention.
Well I’m not running a mercenary type business, on the other I’m not running a charity either. My business is built on fixed rates, up front with my customer type protacol and first come first served every time.
I think it is wrong to prioritise calls and all my customers will be served within a very fast time period nevertheless. They all pay the same charges whether it’s some daft so and so thats broken the door handle or the little old lady confused as to how to switch it on, all in strict rotation.

Simon,
Hell no!
The thermostat is located inside the cowling around the front. Stick your head into the drum and look up, its located in the 12 o’clock position behind a plate with pozidrive self tappers. Remove plate, pull the 2 wires off and check continuity. (switch is normally closed)
Besides you should have the PDF file Dave sent you by now with it shown π

ParticipantRe: Bosch WTL 55 Condenser Dryer: Pump Failure?
I can recommend Appliance Repairs on 01273 415661 as pretty good with Bosch appliances  We’ve had good reports in the past from someone who recommends them at least.(Don’t know of them personally though)
Do please make note that I believe your problem dryer is simply a flooded pump chamber. And it just needs an expert in to clear the blockage between that chamber and the water tank…Thats all, I’m certain π
Let me know how you get on please π
